August 18, 2017

My daughter made a card for her new teacher.

Size:  Horizontal top fold A2 card

Extra Details:  We began this card with a light green card base. My daughter picked out a bunch of stamps from Lawn Fawn’s Plan On It set to stamp all over the card base. We used a light green ink to stamp the little images.

We stamped the chalk board on black and white card stock. I also stamped the apple, chalk, and eraser on the white care stock. My daughter used Crayola Fine Line markers to water color the images in.

I fussy cut the images out. I cut just the frame of the chalk board out, so we could layer the black chalk board behind it.

My daughter used white pigment ink and her finger to add the white smudges to the chalk board. I white heat embossed the sentiment for her.

We used thin foam tape to adhere the brown frame to the black chalk board to give it dimension. We adhered the small images with foam tape also. Lastly, we adhered the chalk board to the card base.

Treasure Map

August 17, 2017

I was just having fun playing with the new to me Ahoy Matey stamp set by Lawn Fawn and my Distress Inks.

Extra Details: I began this card by stamping, clear heat embossing, and water coloring all of the images. I used Crayola Fine Line markers to water color everything in. Once the images were dry, I fussy cut them out leaving a small white border.

Next, I die cut a rectangle of tan card stock. I used the same card stock to create a card base and set it aside. I hand cut a few notches in the edges of the rectangle and then planned my layout. I added the compass rose to top left corner, sentiment in the bottom center, and the dotted lines. I used Distress Ink and an ink blending tool to add interest to my map. Then I crumpled the paper up a number of times. I flattened it out and adhered the fussy cut images.

I wanted to add some interest to my card base. First, I stamped some of the images from the Ahoy Matey stamp set in a light colored ink. I felt that didn’t offer enough contrast, so I ink blended some really dark Distress Ink on the edges of the card base. The ink blending covers up the stamping mostly, but if you look closely you can see it. I adhered the map to the card front using foam tape and double sided tape. I tried to follow the natural dimension of the paper to let it keep its crumbled texture.

For the inside of the card, I stamped a sentiment and adhered a few more fussy cut images.

Extra Details:  I began by fussy cutting the 1, 2, and the sunglasses from the Illustrated Faith’s Basic Collection acetate sheets. Next, I created a grey frame and a blue panel from some of the Illustrated Faith’s Basic papers and some stitched rectangle dies. I traced the opening of the frame on the blue paper. I stamped my sentiment on the blue paper and add some tone on tone stamping around the edges. I backed the grey frame with acetate and added foam tape around the edges to create a shaker window. I added the sequins and silver glitter stars and adhered the frame to the blue paper.  To finish off the shaker box, I adhered the acetate pieces around the frame.

I create a yellow card base. I added some stamping that I embossed with WOW Cloud 9 embossing powder to the edges. I added a sentiment and one more pair of glasses on the inside of the card. Lastly, I adhered the shaker box to the card front.

Clean craft area day really means make more cards! Here is a card I made with the Simon Says Stamp August 2017 Card Kit.

Size:  Vertical side fold A2 card

Extra Details:  I began this card with a panel of the pattern paper included in the kit. I used one of the small sentiments to stamp on the white areas of the chevrons. I added this paper to a grey card base.

I die cut the large “thanks” from grey card stock four times. I glued them all together. I die cut the same “thanks” one more time from some striped paper. I glue this to the stack of grey die cuts, but off set it just a little bit. Once the stack of “thanks” was dry, I adhered it to a small rectangle of velum and adhered that to the card front.

Ferris Wheel Glitter

August 16, 2017

I was cleaning up my crafty area and found some of the goodies from the Simon Says Stamp July 2017 Card Kit. I love this pattern paper and am not sure why I hadn’t used it. So today was the day that it got used.

Owls + Books

August 16, 2017

I was looking through the Simon Says Stamp August 2017 Monthly Card Kit today. I found this scrap of paper from one of the pattern papers included in the kit. The words at the bottom remind me of my grandmother. So I created this card for her.

Extra Details: I began this card with a strip of pattern paper. I added a few stamped images about the words already printed on the paper. I used colored pencils to color the owls in and add a bit of ground. I cut a shallow fish tail to the bottom of the strip to create a banner shape.

I found another larger piece of pattern paper to add interest to my card base. I used a light tan card stock to create a card base. I adhered the orange dotted paper to the card base. I used foam tape to adhere the banner to the card front.

For the inside of the card, I die cut the letters for the word “you” from the same orange paper I used on the card front. I adhered them down with liquid glue and added a few smaller sentiments in black ink.

Christmas Tags 3.1: Donut Peek

August 13, 2017

I love donut puns. So I had to make some Christmas tags using a donut pun.

36362682092_947339c0f9_o

Details

Size:  tags

Extra Details: I started with a full sheet of white card stock. I drew a line 2 inches from each long side. Then using a grey marker, a green glitter gel pen, and a pink gel pen, I created a plaid pattern. I then die cut the tag shape from the plaid paper. I made sure to line the bottom of the tag up with the open area to leave myself room for the sentiment. I trimmed a piece of grey card stock to about 1/8th of an inch and adhered it over the line at the bottom of the tag. I added the sentiment in grey ink.

Then, I started working on the donuts. I white heat embossed the donuts on dark brown card stock. I fussy cut them out, leaving a small border. I stamped the donuts on some white card stock with Barely Beige ink. I fussy cut out just the frosting on the line this time. I went over the sprinkles with the same gel pens I used to create the plaid paper. To give the frosting a shiny appearance, I smooshed the pieces in Versa Mark ink and clear embossed the whole thing. Then I adhered the frosting to the brown donuts. I used foam tape to adhere the donuts to the tags.

I stamped, fussy cut, and colored some holly leaves to add to the donuts. I think they add just the right touch.

To finish the tags, I die cute some plain white tags. I stamped “to”, “from”, and a donut in grey ink on them. Lastly, I adhered the plaid tag to the plain tag and added some grey reinforces.

Details

Size:  Horizontal top fold A2 card

Extra Details:  I began with a card base made from water color paper. I stamped and colored the card front first. I used masking to hide the mouse behind the box. I traced a circle die to create the white highlight around the images. I used a water brush and Crayola Fine Line markers to color everything in. I used a grey ink to add the confetti to the colorful rays.

While the card front was drying I stamped and die cut all of the images for the inside of the card. I used the same markers and water brush to color everything in.

While those were drying, I die cut the stitched hillside pop up and another plain stitched hillside from a few shades of green card stock. I also die cut “celebrate” from holographic paper and plain card stock so I could layer them. I also die cut the posts from water color paper and colored them brown.

Next, I decorated the inside of the card. I used a puffy cloud die to trace with the blue marker. I used a water brush to move the color around and create a soft cloudy sky. Once the clouds were dry, I added the stamped confetti. I used the same markers to color them in.

Once the card base was dry, I began assembling the card. I adhered the green hills first. Then, I added the animals and balloons. The confetti was the last thing I adhered. I used glue dots, double sided tape, and liquid glue to adhere everything.

Cookie Tags

August 13, 2017

We went to a picnic yesterday. I brought two types of cookies and created labels for them.

35721936053_dae3c41d3e_o

Nutella Stuffed Brown Butter Chocolate Cookies with Sea Salt. I found the recipe here: http://www.ambitiouskitchen.com/2012/09/nutella-stuffed-brown-butter-sea-salt-chocolate-chip-cookies-my-favorite-cookie-ever/

They are suppose to be chocolate chip cookies, but chocolate chips melt when you add them to a very warm cookie dough. So they became chocolate cookies :)

Vegan Lemon Cookies. I found the recipe here: http://www.food.com/recipe/vegan-lemon-cookies-438624

Details

Size:  Horizontal top fold tents 2.75 x 4.25

Extra Details:  I began these tags by cutting a yellow card base in half to create to tents. Then, I cut white panels that would fit on the yellow tents. I used a few alpha sets to spell out the name of the cookies. I added some small images around the names for interest. I used Crayola Fine Liner Markers to color in the images. Then, I would adhere the panel to the yellow tents.

You’re a Treasure

August 13, 2017

I just bought the Ahoy, Matey stamp set. This is the first card I made with it.

36156385080_0f8b6b9d69_o

Details

Size:  Horizontal top fold A2 card

Extra Details:  I started this card with a panel of water color paper that I die cut with a stitched rectangle die. I ink smooshed some blue Distress Inks on it and let it dry.

I stamped and clear embossed the images on another piece of water color paper. I used Crayola Fine Line Markers to watercolor the images. Once they were dry, I fussy cut them out leaving a small white border.

Using some tan card stock, I die cut another stitched rectangle. From this rectangle, I created two stitched hills for my scene. I ink blended some Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink on the hills. I splattered some Gathered Twigs Distress Ink on the hills. I also used clean water to splatter on the hills. The water spots still let the original color of the card stock show through.

When the blue panel was dry, I added some wave detail with dark blue ink and white pigment ink. While that was drying, I added the sentiments to the hillside.

Then, I began assembling the card. I adhered the hills to the water color panel. I added the trees, ship, and pirates to the scene using double sided tape. I used liquid glue to adhere the coins, gem, and bird to the treasure chest. When that grouping was dry, I added it to the panel with an action wobble spring.

I used dark brown card stock to create a card base. I stamped the compass rose on the front of the card base in dark brown ink for added interest. Lastly, I adhered the panel with the scene to the card base and the card was finished.

Ink: Versa Fine

Distress Inks in Mermaid Lagoon, Blueprint Sketch, Chipped Sapphire, Brushed Corduroy, and Gathered Twigs
