Flamingo Wedding

October 13, 2016

Today, I made another wedding card for my cousin. I really have no idea if he or his wife-to-be like flamingos, but I couldn’t resist using this sentiment.

Size:  Vertical top fold A2 card

Extra Details: I started by die cutting a stitched circle from water color paper. Then, I stamped the images on the circle with Versa Fine black ink. I used my Distress Inks as water colors when adding color to these images.

While the water coloring dried, I worked on the sentiment strip. I cut a thin strip form some black card stock. Using white embossing powder, I heat embossed the sentiment. I adhered the strip to the white card base and trimmed any excess off.

Before, I attached the stamped circle; I found a black circle to layer behind it. The black circle was left over from a different project and has clear embossed chevron strips on it. I adhered both circle to the card base and was done.

Stamps Used: Lawn Fawn’s Flamingo Together, Critters from the Past, Mermaid for You, and Chevron Backdrops

Dies Used: Simon Says Stamp Stitched Circles

Ink: Versa Fine

Versa Mark

Distress Inks in Carved Pumpkin, Lucky Clover, Brushed Corduroy, Hickory Smoke, Mermaid Lagoon, Picked Raspberry, Shaded Lilac, and Walnut Stain.

Pink and Gold Wedding Card

October 12, 2016

This is another wedding card for my cousin. My grandmother asked for a handmade card that was pretty but not sappy. So I used the wedding invite as inspiration for this card.

Size:  Horizontal side fold A2 card

Extra Details:  I started with a pink panel cut slightly smaller than an A2 card front. Using a circle die and a pencil, I lightly traced a circle on the card stock. Then I went through my stamp stash looking for any stamps that reminded me of the wedding invite. I found a bunch of dotted swirly stamps. Using Versa Mark ink and gold heat embossing powder, I created a design on my panel. I added some ink blending to the edges of the panel with Distress Inks to add interest.

Originally, this was intended to be a vertical card, but I could not find/create a Congratulations sentiment that would fit in my circle. So I turned the panel on its side. I stamped Congratulations on a strip of velum in Versa Fine black ink and embossed it with clear embossing powder. I added the gold hearts to the circle to fill in space.

Before adhering all of the elements together, I dipped the edges of the pink panel and the velum strip in Versa Mark ink and added some gold embossing powder. I love the way this turned out.

Lastly, I wrapped the velum strip around the pink panel and adhered everything to the white card base.

Wedding Books

October 11, 2016

One of my cousins is getting married this month. This is the card that my family will be giving to the happy couple. I find this card hilarious because my cousin works in a library and spends as much time reading as possible.

Extra Details: I started by die cutting a stitched rectangle from some water color paper. I stamped the books, details, and sentiment on the panel. The top hat is from Snow Cool. The pearl tiara is from Mermaid For You. Using a thin black Sharpie, I added arms, legs, and a veil.

Once all of the ink was dry, I used Distress Inks to add color to the images. I tried to keep the colors on the light side.

To finish the card, I layered a pink piece of card stock at an angle on my card base and trimmed off the parts that hung over. I adhered my stamped panel and was done.

Stamps Used: Lawn Fawn’s Snow Cool, Mermaid for You, Happily Ever After, and Science of Love

Dies Used: Lawn Fawn’s Small Stitched Rectangles

Ink: Versa Fine

Distress Inks in Picked Raspberry, Mermaid Lagoon, Cracked Pistachio, Black Soot, Milled Lavender, Hickory Smoke, and Salty Ocean.

Blue Tree Wedding Card

June 29, 2016

One of my husband’s cousins is getting married in a few weeks. Her wedding invitation was dark blue with a white tree on it. As soon as I saw it, I knew exactly how I wanted her wedding card to look.

Size:  Vertical top fold A2 card

Extra Details:  I started with a dark blue panel. I trimmed it to 5.5 x 3.25 inches. I added some detail to the right edge with the Stitched Border dies. Then, I stamped and heat embossed the tree, leaves, and sentiment. I used white embossing powder. I wanted to give the card a little something extra, so I dry embossed the card front with a Darice embossing folder. I popped the blue panel up on fun foam and was done.

Bride’s Maid’s Thank You Cards

July 13, 2015

When I updated my blog in February 2016, I lost all the posting I had already done. I am doing my best to put the posts back up but I do not remember all the details for each card.  Unfortunately, the details for this project may be a bit scarce.

I was the maid of honor in a wedding over the weekend. The other bridesmaids were awesome and did a lot of the work. I wanted to thank them so I made a set of thank you cards. I only needed four cards, but made six just in case. I used a different sentiment on the extra cards.

Size:  A2 card

Extra Details: I started by creating the white panels. I stamped the dresses and water colored them in colors to match the bride’s maids’ dresses. I also stamped the flowers on a separate piece of paper and water colored those in. I fussy cut out the flowers and adhered them to the dresses. Once they were dry, I stamped the sentiments. I adhered the water color panel to a slightly larger layer of patterned paper. I used white card bases for all the cards. I even added a small gemstone to the center of each flower.

I also stamped the dress in a purple ink on the inside of the card to dress it up.

Happily Ever After

When I updated my blog in February 2016, I lost all the posting I had already done. I am doing my best to put the posts back up but I do not remember all the details for each card.  Unfortunately, the details for this project may be a bit scarce.

I made this for a friend who was getting married. I love the fairy tale feel to the sentiment.

Knotty Wedding Card

June 8, 2015

When I updated my blog in February 2016, I lost all the posting I had already done. I am doing my best to put the posts back up but I do not remember all the details for each card.  Unfortunately, the details for this project may be a bit scarce.

This is a wedding card I made. Lawn Fawn had just release the Happy Wedding stamp set. I loved the knot stamp in that set, but didn’t really want to buy the whole set just for that. So I used the twine that Lawn Fawn sends with your order to recreate the same look.

Extra Details:  I dipped the twine in tacky glue to help it hold it’s shape better. The glue also adhered the twine to it’s panel. I very carefully inked two sentiments from Happily Ever After to create the greeting on the inside of the card.

Stamps Used: Lawn Fawn’s Happily Ever After and Penelope’s Blossoms

Paper: The patterned paper is a freebie from Lawn Fawn. It was included in my order.
