Poinsettia Frame

January 25, 2018

This is another card design for Christmas 2018. I loved watching all the YouTube videos featuring poinsettia stamps. I don’t any, so I stretched the stamps I did have.

Size:  Horizontal top fold A2 card

Extra Details:  I began this card with a 4.25 x 5.5 inch panel of kraft paper. I stamped the paper with a wood grain stamp and some brown ink. I die cut a rectangle from the middle of the panel.

Using the frame as a guide, I stamped the sentiment in Versa Mark ink and used gold embossing powder on it. Once I finished the heat embossing, I adhere the frame to the card base with foam tape.

I stamped the flowers and leaves on some white card stock. I used a color layering set and two shades of green and red inks. To add the gold centers to the flowers, I used an embossing pen and the same gold embossing powder. Once the florals were dry, I fussy cut everything out. I used glue dots to adhere the flowers to the card.

Mitten Tag Card

January 25, 2018

I am finally getting back into the usual routine after the holidays. This card was inspired by three challenges this week.

Extra Details:  I began this card with a 4.25 x 5.5 inch panel of grey cardstock. I stamped the solid diamonds in white pigment ink all over the panel. Once the ink was dry, I stamped the quilted lines in a darker grey ink.

I die cut a tag shape from some white card stock. I added the sentiment to the white tag using the same darker grey ink and some red ink.

I die cut the mittens from red card stock. I added some detail with the white and grey inks. As a finishing touch, I added a small white heart that I die cut.

I used some red and white twine to add a bow to the top of the tag. I adhered the tails of the bow to the mittens using regular scotch tape. I adhered one bow flat to the tag and the other with some foam tape.

Lastly, I added the tag to the grey panel and adhered everything to a white card base.

Red Water Color Card Set

January 17, 2018

This is a set of cards I made as a Christmas gift. The sentiment is actually the negative piece left over for the Purple Water Color Card Set.

Size:  Vertical top fold A2 cards

Extra Details:  I began these cards by created some card bases from water color paper. I used an acrylic block and some pink and red Distress Inks to create the backgrounds. I used the ink smooshing techniques. I used a large block which is why the ink smooshing isn’t very consistent from card to card.

The sentiments are the negative die cuts from a previous project. Once the ink was dry, I was able to adhere the white sentiment rectangles onto the card base.

I LOVE the Simon Says Stamp January 2018 card kit. It is perfect for Valentine’s Day cards. The mix of sentiment in the kit can also work for a variety of people which is very nice. This is the second card I made using the kit.

I LOVE the Simon Says Stamp January 2018 card kit. It is perfect for Valentine’s Day cards. The mix of sentiment in the kit can also work for a variety of people which is very nice. This is the first card I made using the kit.

Extra Details:  I began this card by cutting the kraft card stock included in the kit into four 4.25 by 5.5 inch panels. I decided to create the four panels and not card bases so that I could get more use from the cardstock in the kit.

I took one panel and scored it every ¾ of an inch. I adhered strips of the patterned paper in-between the score line.

I used one of the cut aparts form the patterned paper pack for the sentiment. I matted it on another piece of patterned paper and adhered it with some foam tape.

I adhered the kraft panel to a white card base and the card was complete.

Penguining to Look

December 17, 2017

This is the card I made for my kiddos’ piano teacher. It has an action wobble on the front and a hidden gift card on the inside.

Inside of Card

Details

Size:  Horizontal side fold A2 card

Extra Details:  I began this card by cutting two 4.25 x 5.5 inch panels from some water color paper. One panel is for the front of the card; the other is for the inside.

I used a stitched hillside border to cut the front panel. From the top part of the panel, I also die cut some stitched circles. I used versa mark ink and white embossing powder to add stars or music notes. I used Distress Inks as water colors to create my night sky. The embossed resist worked beautifully.  I added a light blue was to the bottom of the panel for interest. Once dry, I adhered all of the pieces to a white card base.

For the inside panel, I used the Ellen Hudson Zipper Panel Die to create the hidden chamber. I adhered this panel to the inside of the card base.

On a scrap of water color paper, I stamped the penguins in Versa Fine ink and clear embossed them. I used the same Distress Inks to water color them in. Once dry, I fussy cut everything out leaving a small white border. I adhered the penguins to my card using liquid glue. I used a mini action wobble on the penguin playing the guitar.

Lastly, I added the sentiments and a few music notes in black ink.

Keep Cozy

October 8, 2017

World Card Making Day was so much fun. I watched a ton of inspirational videos on YouTube and created a number of cards also. This card was inspired by the current Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge: Christmas

012

Details

Size:  Vertical side fold A2 card

Extra Details:  I began this card with a light grey card base. I stamped the solid diamonds in red ink. I added the stitching in grey ink. I stamped the sentiment in black ink to help it stand out.

I die cut the mittens from some white card stock. I flipped one mitten over so that it looked like I had a pair of mittens. I stamped the diamonds and stitching with the same inks as the card front. I stamped the grey ink pad on the cuffs of the mittens to add some more color.

I used a red twine from my stash to connect the two mittens. I adhered the mittens to the card base with foam squares. I used a little liquid glue to adhere the twine to the card base. Lastly, I added some Wink of Stella to the mittens for some sparkle.

Franken Bear Bookmarks

October 1, 2017

Because I am crazy, I decided to make every student in my class a bookmark for Halloween. I think they turned out super cute, but they were fairly time consuming.

018

Details

Extra Details: I began these bookmarks, by stamping the front and back of all the bears on some white card stock. I used a mini ink blending tool and some Lawn Fawn Celery Stick ink to color all of the bears. I stamped the stitches on the bears next. I die cut the bears using the matching dies.

I stamped the monster hair on a separate piece of paper. I used colored pencils to color the hair and then fussy cut them out. I painted the edges with a back marker to hide any cutting errors.

I die cut the book marks from some black cardstock. I adhered the front of the bear to the book mark, and then added the monster hair. I adhered the back of the bear to the back of the book mark. I adhered the hair, making sure to line the back hair to the front hair. I trimmed the ears and tag holes that stuck out from the hair with my scissors.

Lastly, I white heat embossed the sentiment on the front of the book mark. I plan on sign the back of the book marks with a white gel pen.

Brushstroke Birthday

October 1, 2017

This card was inspired by the current Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: Heavy Metal. I had just received the SSS October Card Kit and the new Steel Navy embossing powder. It is such a cool embossing powder; it appears to be a dark metallic blue.

010

Details

Size:  Vertical side fold A2 card

Extra Details:  I began this card by stamping and heat embossing the sentiment on the lower part of the card base. I used the navy embossing powder for the sentiment. I added a heart with silver embossing powder. I added stripes to the rest of the card using the same embossing powders and three shades of aqua inks. It was a very simple card to create; however, I love the results.
