Details

Size:  Banner with 4 x 5.5 inch pennants

Extra Details:  I began by cutting all of the triangle shaped pennants from some light purple card stock. I used the WE R Memory Keepers Banner Border for this. I stamped a starry back drop in silver ink on the pennants. You can’t really see it unless you are very close.

Next, I die cut and layered the house silhouettes. I added some small yellow rectangles behind the houses to give the windows and doors some interest.

I stamped and die cut the candy pieces next. In the interest of time, I stamped the candy on some colored card stock so I didn’t even have to color it. I did add a few little details with a white gel pen after I glued the candy on.

I stamped, colored and fussy cut the bats, ghosts, and candy bags. I used Prismacolor pencils for all of the coloring. I added these to my scene using liquid glue.

I die cut the tiny pumpkin tag nine times from orange and black card stock. I used the Jack O’ Lantern Face in two of the orange pumpkins and the letters for WELCOME in the others. I tied them together with orange thread and hung them from the bottom of the pennants.

Sweet as Candy Corn

October 8, 2017

I love making Halloween cards. There is just something fun about making cards that are just a little on the darker side. Here are two cards I made using the new Lawn Fawn How You Bean? Candy Corn Add On set.

Size:  Horizontal side fold A2 card

Extra Details: I began these cards with a strip of paper that was 1.5” inches wide. Using masking, I stamped the candy corn group all the way up the strip. I used Prismacolor pencils to color all of the images. On one strip I only used orange and yellow; on the other strip, I added a few black areas.

I adhered the colored strip to a slightly larger black strip of card stock. Then I layered that on a strip of orange card stock that had be cut with a scalloped border die. I used the smallest scallop on one of the orange strips and the medium on the other. Then I adhered those strips to a black card base. I added a sentiment with white embossing powder.

I cut a white liner for the inside of each card. I added a die cut spider and web. I stamped the sentiment and adhered the candy corn. Lastly, I adhered the liner to the inside of the cards.

Franken Bear Bookmarks

October 1, 2017

Because I am crazy, I decided to make every student in my class a bookmark for Halloween. I think they turned out super cute, but they were fairly time consuming.

018

Details

Extra Details: I began these bookmarks, by stamping the front and back of all the bears on some white card stock. I used a mini ink blending tool and some Lawn Fawn Celery Stick ink to color all of the bears. I stamped the stitches on the bears next. I die cut the bears using the matching dies.

I stamped the monster hair on a separate piece of paper. I used colored pencils to color the hair and then fussy cut them out. I painted the edges with a back marker to hide any cutting errors.

I die cut the book marks from some black cardstock. I adhered the front of the bear to the book mark, and then added the monster hair. I adhered the back of the bear to the back of the book mark. I adhered the hair, making sure to line the back hair to the front hair. I trimmed the ears and tag holes that stuck out from the hair with my scissors.

Lastly, I white heat embossed the sentiment on the front of the book mark. I plan on sign the back of the book marks with a white gel pen.

If the Hat Fits…

September 4, 2017

It is STAMPtember at Simon Says Stamp and their new release is fantastic. The If The Hat Fits stamp set is my favorite. I couldn’t get the name out of my head so I made a couple of cards using it.

Size:  Horizontal top fold A2 card

Extra Details:  I began this card with half a sheet of white card stock. I found all of the witches’ hat stamps I had in my collection and created a patterned paper with them. I added some stars in the open spaces. I used PrismaColor pencils to color everything in.

I used a cross stitched rectangle die to create two panels from the half sheet of paper. I adhered each panel to a white card base. I added the broom stick and words to the inside of the card bases.

I also die cut two smaller rectangles from black cardstock. I used alpha sets and white embossing powder to create the sentiment. I colored in the large letters with a colored pencil. I added some Wink of Stella to the large letters and orange hat bands. I adhered the sentiments panel to the card base using foam tape.

At the last minute, I stamped, colored, and fussy cut two more hats to add to the sentiment panels. I covered those in Wink of Stella also.

Extra Details:  I began this card by die cutting two stitched rectangles; one from black card stock and one from white card stock. I also die cut the letters for ghost hugs from water color paper. I used Distress Inks to water color the letters.

While the letters were drying, I stamped and white heat embossed the beginning of the sentiment on the black rectangle. I used glow in the dark embossing powder to add the ghosts. They are much more subtle in real life. I glued the letters down to the black panel. I used fun foam to adhere the panel to a black card base.

I used an alpha stamp set for the inside sentiment. I added some ghosts in a light grey ink and then adhered on the inside of the card base.

Ghost Trick or Treat

August 27, 2017

After I finished the Halloween Dog Cards Set, I had four ink smooshed backgrounds left over. I didn’t want to waste them, so I created four more Halloween cards. This time the design is the pretty much the same for each card. One is different because I was running out of pieces.

Details

Size:  Horizontal top fold A2 cards

Extra Details:  I began this card with the four orange ink smooshed backgrounds, four black card bases and four white liners. I had done enough with the dogs so I moved on to another Halloween stamp set in my stash.

I stamped and white heat embossed some frames on black card stock. I fussy cut out the frames on bother the outside and inside. I stamped the same frames on white card stock. I stamped my images on the white frames and used colored pencils to color them in. I trimmed the colored frames to be smaller than the back frames. I adhered the white frames to the black frames.

The sentiment I wanted to use was too large from any of the frames, so I partial stamped a frame and made it large. I did this with both black and white frames. I layered the sentiment behind the black frame so it matched the others.

Next, I began playing with the layout of my card front. I adhered the frames to the orange ink smooshed pieces. I trimmed any pieces that hung over. For the fourth card, I used a few of the small pieces I cut off to finish the design.

I stamped a sentiment on the liner and added a treat bag and some candy corn. I used colored pencils to add color to the images on the liner. Then I adhered it to the card base.

I also made envelopes to go with these cards.

Halloween Dog Card Set

August 27, 2017

I just bought Lawn Fawn’s Happy Howloween Stamp set and I couldn’t resist dressing those dogs up. I ended up with 16 cards by the time I was done. I used the same basic design for each card, but switched up sentiments, images, background stamps, and background dies to give some interest.

Size:  Vertical side fold A2 cards

Extra Details:  I began these cards by stamping and coloring all of the cute dogs and their costumes. I used Prismacolor Pencils to color everything in. I fussy cut everything out and painted the edges black with a marker. Then I began dressing the dogs. They turned out so cute.

I created my orange backgrounds, next. I smooshed some orange Distress Inks on four full sheets of water color paper. I let the ink air dry. Once dry, I used Ripe Persimmon Distress Ink to add some interest to these back grounds using background stamps.

Next, my die cut machine became my best friend. I cut the picture frames, grassy borders, little town borders, and stitched tree borders from a variety of colored card stock. I used a stitched rectangle die to doe cut the ink smooshed backgrounds. I created a piece of glow in the dark cardstock with some Versa Mark ink and Wow’s Glow in the Dark embossing powder. I die cut the lights behind the windows and doors for the little town die and the stars.

Then, I stamped the greetings on the frames. I used four different sentiments for some variety. I began constructing my cards next. I layered the scenes behind the frames. I used a purple pattern paper for the sky.  Once the scenes were created, I adhered the frames to the ink smooshed pieces. I adhered the dogs with some foam tape.

I created 16 black card bases and white liners. I adhered the ink smooshed pieces flat to the card fronts. I added a sentiment and some candy corn to the liners. I used colored pencils to add color to the candy corn. I added a note about glowing in the dark and then adhered the liner to the card.

I have donated a few of these to a local basket raffle so I also created matching envelopes. I stamped a trick or treat bag to the back flap and bottom left corner on the front. I used colored pencils to add some color.

I made the sentiment strips next. I stamped the Thanks in black ink. I used three colors of Distress Inks to add color to my sentiment banners. I cut in a fish tail end on each banner and attached them to the cards. As a finishing touch I colored parts of the letters in with a white gel pen.

I cut some 12 x 12 patterned paper into 6 x 6 squares. I used the We R Memory Keepers pillow box punch board to create the pillow boxes. I stuffed all the goodies inside and attached the rectangles to the outside. The glasses wouldn’t fit, so I just tucked the arms into the boxes.
