Size:  Horizontal top fold A2 card

Extra Details:  I began with a card base made from water color paper. I stamped and colored the card front first. I used masking to hide the mouse behind the box. I traced a circle die to create the white highlight around the images. I used a water brush and Crayola Fine Line markers to color everything in. I used a grey ink to add the confetti to the colorful rays.

While the card front was drying I stamped and die cut all of the images for the inside of the card. I used the same markers and water brush to color everything in.

While those were drying, I die cut the stitched hillside pop up and another plain stitched hillside from a few shades of green card stock. I also die cut “celebrate” from holographic paper and plain card stock so I could layer them. I also die cut the posts from water color paper and colored them brown.

Next, I decorated the inside of the card. I used a puffy cloud die to trace with the blue marker. I used a water brush to move the color around and create a soft cloudy sky. Once the clouds were dry, I added the stamped confetti. I used the same markers to color them in.

Once the card base was dry, I began assembling the card. I adhered the green hills first. Then, I added the animals and balloons. The confetti was the last thing I adhered. I used glue dots, double sided tape, and liquid glue to adhere everything.

Black and White and Orange

July 18, 2017

I made this card to enter in the Simon Says Stamp Flickr Challenge #75; Black and White with a Splash of Color. The title of this challenge inspired me to so some ink blending for my splash of color.

Details

Size:  Vertical top fold A2 card

Extra Details: I began with a small square of water color paper. I ink smooshed some orange Distress Inks on an acrylic black and pressed it on the paper. I let the paper and ink sit over night because I forgot about it. Once I remembered to remove the block, I let the paper finish air drying.

I stamped a large floral image with black ink on the water color square. I also added a few flicks of grey ink to the panel as well. I added some foam tape to the back of this panel and set it aside.

Next, I created a black card base. I choose a panel of black and white striped patterned paper as a layer for my card. I added some flicks of orange ink to the patterned paper for added interest.  I adhered this panel to the black card base and adhered the water color panel on top of it.

I choose to skip a sentiment this time around. I like the versatility of not having a sentiment gives me.

Mother’s Day Animals

April 30, 2017

Today I made a trio of Mother’s Day Cards for some important ladies in my life. Luckily each one had a favorite animal and I have a stamp of each animal. The card design is the same for each card; I just changed the colors and animals.

Extra Details:  I began by die cutting a panel for the front of each card. I also die cut the word Happy from each panel. While my die machine was out, I die cut three banners from white card stock also.

Next, I stamped the images. I used grey ink so that the images would appear softer. I filled in some of the open spaces with the small hearts. I used colored pencils to color in the images.

Then, I adhered the panels to the card bases. I stamped the large Happy in the die cut on the panel, making sure to line it up carefully. Lastly, I stamped the sentiment on the banner and adhered the banner to the card base.

Alicorn, Fairy, and Sparkles

April 17, 2017

Spring Break means lots of fun card making! I made two cards today. They have similar techniques and design details.

33281151624_ef3bae4578_o

Card One: Alicorn and Sparkles

33312032233_19cd52c338_o

Card Two: Fairy and Sparkles

Details

Size:  A2 cards

Extra Details: I started by creating two card bases from water color paper. Next, I did some ink blending. I used a circle mask for the alicorn card and a triangle-ish mask for the fairy card. I used three colors of Distress Ink to make the rainbow on each card. I added some water flicks to add some distressing to my inked backgrounds

For the alicorn card, I die cut a stitched hillside from some more water color paper. I stamped the sentiment in black ink and clear heat embossed it. Using Mowed Lawn Distress Ink, I blended just a bit of green to the area where the alicorn would be standing. I adhered the hillside with two layers of fun foam in the middle and just double sided tape at the edges. I really like the dimension that created.

For the fairy card, I masked off the rainbow and used some cloud border die cuts as masks to create the rest of the background. I used Salty Ocean Distress Ink.  I added some stars with white embossing powder to the rainbow area. I made a mistake when stamping the sentiment on this card. Apparently, white embossing powder and black ink do not mix well. To cover my mistake, I stamped a cloud and re-stamped the sentiment and used clear embossing powder this time. I added a second cloud to help cover my mistake.

Next, I stamped the alicorn and fairy on a scrap of water color paper. I clear embossed these images also. I used Crayola Fine Line Markers and a water brush to water color these images. Once they were dry, I fussy cut them out leaving a small white border.

I adhered the alicorn and fairy to each card using dimensional glue dots. I also added some silver glitter stars and sequins to the rainbow areas. I love the way these cards turned out.

Wild Christmas Tags

April 5, 2017

The newest Simon Says Stamp products in my craft room are from the Simon Says Stamp April 2017 Card Kit. I love the stamp set and ink colors, but I wasn’t sure what to do with the kraft tags. I really only use tags at Christmas time; and usually I make my own white tags. In the end, I did have fun creating this tags and I already know which holiday gifts they will be going on.

Details

Size:  tags

Extra Details: I started by stamping and coloring my animal and hat images. This was the first time I used the penguin from this stamp set.   I used colored pencils to color everything. After fussy cutting everything out, I painted the edges with a black marker.

For the tags, I started by ink blending some white pigment ink in the center area of each tag. Then I stamped the falling snow in the background with the same white pigment ink.

While the ink was drying, I created the snowy hills. I die cut a stitched hillside for and trimmed it down to the size of the tag. I adhered the hills to the tags and stamped the sentiments in black ink.

I adhered the hats to the critters with glue dots. I adhered the critters to the cards with double sided tape. To finish the tags, I added some red and white twines form my stash.

Hello Spring Mouse

March 20, 2017

I was just having fun making a card that meets the requirements of two current challenges. This card will be entered in Simon Says Stamps Monday Challenge: Layer It Up and Simon Says Stamps Flickr Challenge #67: Think Spring.

33430309181_6303b8358d_o

Details

Size:  Vertical side fold A2 card

Extra Details:  I started by stamping my images and sentiment on a panel of white cardstock. I masked the stem of the flower so it looked like the mouse was holding it. I added some color to the corner with Cracked Pistachio Distress Ink and a Mini Ink Blending Tool. I used colored pencils to add color to the mouse and flower. I used a white gel pen to color in the petals of the flower, and add some detail to the mouse’s eyes. Once the white gel pen was dry, I outlined everything in a black gel pen. I felt like it made the two stamps from different companies look more alike.

Next, I die cut the stamped panel with a small stitched rectangle die. I also die cut a piece of dotted vellum, blue polka dotted patterned paper, and striped patterned paper with stitched rectangles. Then, I began layering all of the papers together. I added the velum to the back of the stamped piece. I added a layer of fun foam behind the velum. Then, I added the blue patterned paper. I played with the edges of the velum to add some more dimension. I adhered the striped paper to a white card base. Lastly, I adhered the stamped panel and additional papers to the card base and the card was done.

Peep Shaker Cards

March 10, 2017

My daughter just received a set of Crayola Fine Line markers as a gift. She very nicely let me use them to create this card set. I used a water brush to blend the color out and was very pleased with the results.

Two of the four cards

Two more cards

Details

Size:  Vertical side fold A2 card

Extra Details:  I started with a full sheet of water color paper. I white heat embossed the Peep outlines all over the sheet. I used the Crayola Fine Line Markers to add a single line of color around all around the inside edges of each Peep. I used my water brush to add a very small amount of water and pull the color into the middle of each Peep. Once the Peeps were dry, I used a light blue marker to add color to the background. I added a line of color around the outside of each Peep and used my water brush to pull the color out.

White this sheet was drying; I realized that I hadn’t added a sentiment…. So I got a half sheet of water color paper and stamped the sentiment and some more Peeps. I used the same markers and technique to create the sentiments and the Peeps for the inside of the shakers.

When everything was dry, I began die cutting. I used two Cross Stitched Rectangle dies to cut the outer frame and the inner piece for each card. I used the same dies to cut some frames from fun foam to use in the construction of the shakers. I used the coordinating Peep die to cut out each of the extra Peeps. I fussy cut out each sentiment.

Next, I began construction my shaker cards. I adhered the inner rectangle directly to each white card base. I added the fun foam frame around the inner rectangle with strong doubled sided tape. Then, I adhered the clear plastic to the cardstock frame. I adhered the sentiment to the outside of the clear plastic. I added small piece of fun foam behind the sentiment. I added the die cute Peeps, some clear and white sequins to the well created by the fun foam frame.  Then, I adhered the card stock frame to the fun foam frame. Lastly, I trimmed away any fun foam that was sticking out and the cards were done.

Extra Details:  I started by creating a gray card base. I used Simon Says Stamp Fog Ink and a background stamp to add interest to my card base. Then I stamped and colored my images; 4 mice and 4 bows. I used colored pencils for the mice and gel pens for the bows. I used the matching dies to cut out the images.

While I had my die cut machine out, I also die cut a white circle, some green grass and puffy clouds. I used my new pop up die to make two pop up tabs in the large green grass piece. I adhered the grass and clouds with some tape runner. I added a sentiment to the white circle and the clouds.

Lastly, I used glue dots to adhere the mice to the front of the card and the pop up tabs on the inside.
