Books

May 1, 2018

As soon as I got my hands on the Simon Says Stamp May 2018 Card, I knew I had to make some cards using the book paper. My grandmother loves to read and receive handmade cards.  I used some of the stickers and one other piece of pattern paper from the kit also.

Size:  Vertical side fold A2 card

Extra Details:  I began these cards by cutting the pattern paper into 5.5 inch by 4 inch strips. I saved the pieces I trimmed off as well. I also die cut a small stitched rectangle and stitched circle from some velum.

For card one, I adhered the book paper to a tan card base. I used the half inch by 4 inch strip of orange paper as a shelf. I adhered the velum rectangle to the back of the orange strip. I used some of the rectangle stickers to create “books.” I added a plant sticker to the top of the “book” stack. I added a stamped sentiment to the top of the velum rectangle and the card was complete

For card two, I adhered the orange one to a white card base. I layered the 2 by 5.5 inch strip of book paper down the middle. I added some stickers to the velum circle. I hid some foam tape behind the stickers to adhere the velum circle to the card front.

Nested Hearts

April 29, 2018

The Simon Says Stamp May 2018 Card Kit arrived yesterday and I couldn’t wait to play with it. These are the first two cards I made with the kit. I used stacked die cuts and some tone on tone stamping.

Extra Details:  I began these cards by die cutting some hearts from the card stock included in the kit. I used the negative spaces on Card one. I adhered them all to a grey card base. I stamped the sentiment in a dark grey ink. I stamped leaves in a blue ink to the top layer of card stock.

I stamped the same sentiment on the ivory heart for the second card before adhering it to all the other hearts. I added some grey flowers to a grey card base before adhering the hearts to another grey card base.

These cards turned out great. I love the colors.

Flowers in Boots

April 22, 2018

I love the stamp sets that were included in the Simon Says Stamp March 2018 Card Kit. I made these two cards with the same images, but used different colors.

Extra Details:  I began this card by stamping the images on some smooth white card stock. I used black ink and Prismacolor pencils to color everything in. I trimmed the colored panels into smaller rectangles. I layered them on some slightly larger rectangles of colored cardstocks.

I die cut two panels of Kraft cardstock with a stitched rectangle die. I added some interest to the Kraft panels with a gingham stamp. I used white pigment ink on one panel and light brown ink on the other. I adhered each panel to a larger panel of the colored card stock. I adhered these to white card bases. I adhered the stamped panels onto the matching cards.

Originally, I was planning on leaving the cards without sentiments, but it just didn’t feel right. So I quickly stamped, colored, and fussy cut the sentiment plaques. I adhered those under the colored images and the cards were finished.

March 2018 Simon Says Stamp Card Kit Cards

April 15, 2018

I am finally getting around to blogging the cards I made with the Simon Says Stamp March 2018 Card Kit. I loved this kit and made a bunch of cards. These are the cards I made using the papers and stickers mostly.

Rabbit Cards

April 15, 2018

Simon Says Stamp’s Monday Challenge this week is to be inspired by mythology or a story. I choose Peter Rabbit, because it is spring and I have been itching to use this stamp set. In the end I made two similar cards. I used the Simon Says March 2018 Card Kit.

Size:  A2 cards

Extra Details:  I began these cards by stamping the rabbits and carrots on smooth white card stock. I used Prismacolor pencils to add the shading. I fussy cut out the images leaving a small white border.

For the first card, I found a mint die cut circle I had left over from another project and adhered one rabbit and a carrot. I stamped the sentiment in a grey ink. I choose a kraft card base, but felt it was very plain. I stamped the carrot image all over the card base with a brown ink. Then, I adhered the circle and rabbit to the card front.  Lastly, I added a white pom-pom for the bunny’s tail.

For the second card, I covered a white card base with a piece of patterned paper from the Simon Says Stamp Match 2018 card kit. I used a crossed stitched rectangle die to cut the paper to the correct size. I added a small strip of a second patterned paper as a ledge for my bunny to sit on. I adhered the bunny and added the pom-pom tail. Lastly, I stamped the sentiment on some white card stock and die cut it with a banner die.

Crafty Stripes

April 10, 2018

I have been receiving the Simon Says Stamp Monthly Card Kits for almost a year now. I really am enjoying these kits. They provide me with some products I would never buy and stamp sets that are different than my usual style.  One of the best examples of this is the patterned papers. I love looking at patterned paper, but almost never buy it. The papers included in the card kits are always so pretty. I hate wasting any of it. So for each kit, I usually create a few cards that use up the strips that I always have left over. I made four cards with the papers from the Simon Says Stamp February 2018 Card Kit.

Size:   A2 cards

Extra Details:  I began these cards with four panels of scrap card stock cut to 4.25” x 5.5.” I adhered strips of the patterned paper to each panel at a diagonal.  To add some interest, I added some stamping to a few of the strips.

Once the panels were completely covered, I adhered three of the panels to white card bases as is. I trimmed the other paper panel with a rectangle die for a slightly different look. I also white heat embossed the sentiment on this panel.

I die cut some more rectangles form coordinating colors of card stock. I added my sentiments using either white heat embossing or an aqua ink. I adhered the sentiments to the card fronts. I added frames on two of the cards for interest and a stamped image on the final card.

Have a Beautiful Day

April 8, 2018

I LOVE the Simon Says Stamp April 2018 Card kit. The stamp set, the patterned papers, the colors, the stencils…. They are all the best. This is the first card I made with this kit. As soon as I saw the reveal, I know I wanted to white heat emboss those butterflies and water color them.

Extra Details:  I began this card with a panel of water color paper. I stamp and white heat embossed the butterflies all around the edge of the panel. I added my sentiment and leaves with a black ink. I love the effect that was created by using both black ink and white embossing.

I used the Crayola Fine Line Markers to add color and a water brush to move the color around.  Once the card front was dry, I added some Wink of Stella all over background for some sparkle.

Lastly, I adhered the panel to a white card base and the card was done.

Trio of Butterflies

April 8, 2018

Jennifer McGuire did a video on Z fold cards a few weeks ago and I knew I had to try one. I used the Simon Says Stamp April 2018 Card Kit and some patterned paper I got from my local Joann’s to make this card.  I colored the butterflies with Prismacolor pencils and really love the results I got.

Size:  Z fold A2 card

Extra Details: I began this card by stamping and coloring the butterflies on a scrap of white card stock. Once I was done coloring, I fussy cut all of the butterflies out.

I created the card base from some 12 x 12 white cardstock. It was a very light weight card stock, so I don’t think I will be using it again. I added strips of the marble patterned paper to the outside flaps. I used a scalloped edge die to add interest to the front panels.

I added a panel of white cardstock to the inside of the card to stiffen up the card base.  I stamped the sentiment and added a butterfly to this panel.

I adhered the butterflies to the front panels having them overlap the seam. Lastly, I added a small black rectangle to the middle butterfly. I white heat embossed the sentiment on the black rectangle.

Stenciled Butterflies

April 8, 2018

It has been a long time since I’ve done any blogging. However, I have still been making cards so now I’m going to try to catch up now.

This card was made using the Simon Says Stamp April 2018 Card Kit. I have really been enjoying the recent Simon Says Stamp Card Kits. I haven’t really played with stencils before so this was a fun experiment for me.

Extra Details:  I began by taping my white A2 card base down. I temporally adhered the stencil on the top and used Distress Inks and a Mini Ink Blending Tool to add the color. I used two colors for each butterfly. I stamped the sentiment in black ink. Lastly, I added some adhesive backed gems to the card for interest.

Scalloped Hugs and Kisses

January 26, 2018

This is another card I made from the Simon Says Stamp’s January 2018 Card Kit. I LOVE this kit and have made many cards with it.

Extra Details: I began this card by covering a white card base with a panel of pink card stock. I cut the front flap of the card short so I could add a scalloped border of patterned paper.

I stamped the xoxo border along the bottom of the pink card stock in two shades of pinkish ink. I also stamped the larger XOXO in one of the same inks. I added an outline heart.

For the sentiment, I stamped and fussy cut the labels form the stamp set. I added an ampersand that I die cut from some patterned paper.

To finish the card, I adhered the ampersand flat the card base and used foam tape on the labels.
