Rooster Card Sets

July 28, 2017

I LOVE the Hero Arts’ Coloring Layering Rooster stamp set. My grandfather and great uncle both raised chickens and this set reminds me of them and the time I got to spend with each. I made two card sets; one for my grandmother and one for my great aunt.

Set One: I smudge some ink on one of the cards, so I added some clouds to cover it up.

Set Two

Size:  Horizontal top fold A2 cards

Extra Details:  I began with 14 white card bases. My new MISTI got quite the work out while stamping all of the pieces and layers for these roosters. I also used 8 different ink colors to create the roosters. I mixed the colors up to create a bunch of different looks.

I did create a mask for the feet so I put grass behind the rooster. I also used a variety of sentiments.

Live More

This is the third card that I made with the Simon Says Stamp August 2017 Card Kit. The patterned papers included are definitely designed for scrap book pages, but I am having fun trying to use them on 4.25” x 5.5” cards.

Extra Details: I began this card with one of the patterned papers that had some large words on it. I cut the piece down to fit on a card front. I layered a strip of black card stock at the top edge. I added some puffy stickers from the kit to the vertical lines of the words for interest.

I chose an orange card base for this card. I added some triangles in a light grey ink to the top portion for more interest. I adhered the large word panel to the card base with fun foam and the card was finished.

This is the second card I made with the Simon Says Stamp August 2017 Card Kit. I had some left over 4” x ¾” strips from my first card that I wanted to use up.

Extra Details:  I began by trimming each of my ¾” wide strips into banner shapes. I glued the flat edges to the top of a grey card base. I curled up the tails of the banners and added some puffy stickers.

I also wanted to use the silver glitter embossing powder. So I stamped a sentiment in Versa Mark and heat embossed it.

Be Who You Are

July 28, 2017

The Simon Says Stamp August 2017 Card Kit has arrived. It’s like my birthday at the end of every month. I started by cutting the patterned paper in to 5.25” x 4” rectangles, 6” x 2” strips, and 4” by ¾” strips. I find if I don’t do this, I will hoard the patterned papers and never use them. This is the first card I made with the kit.

Extra Details: I began by creating a grey card base. Then I pulled over all of the 4” x ¾” strips. After playing with the strips for a while, I settled on this design. I adhered the strips flat to the card base. Then, I added a few of the puffy stickers from the kit.

Extra Details:  I began with a panel of watercolor paper. I stamped the Scripty Thank You a number of times down the panel in the Barely Beige Ink. Then I ink smooshed five shades of blue Distress Inks over it.

Once the ink was dry, I die cut a Scripty Thanks from the watercolor panel. Using white card stock I die cut the same die four more times. I adhered all of the white thanks together. On the top, I added the water colored thanks.

I adhered the panel to a dark blue card base. I inlayed the layered thanks, added the tiny inside pieces and the card was complete.

I’ve had this card partially put together for almost a month. I need my die cut machine to finish it and I finally unpacked it. I used the Simon Says Stamp June 2017 Card Kit.

Extra Details:  I began with a panel of pattern paper that I adhered to a grey card base. Then, I found a smallish rectangle from black cardstock. I heat embossed the sentiment using silver embossing powder. I adhered the black rectangle to the card base with foam tape. Then I set the card aside waiting for my die cut machine to be un-packed.

Finally, I was able to die cut the strings and banners form more patterned paper from the kit. I adhered the banners to the black panel and the card was complete.

Relaxing in the Pool

July 25, 2017

I love the Simon Says Stamp July 2017 Card Kit. I have been waiting almost a month to play with the bikini die and I’m so excited I finally got to use it.

Extra Details: I started with a panel of blue/green patterned paper. I added the wave stamp with blue ink to the entire panel. I stamped the sentiment in Versa Fine black ink.

I had a small scrap of the white panel patterned paper left that I didn’t want to waste. I die a bikini from it. I adhered some sticky backed fun foam to the back leaving the adhesive open so I could inlay another bikini. I die cut the bikini from another scrap of pattern paper and inlayed the bikini in the white panel piece.

I adhered the inlayed piece to the wave piece using the sticky backed fun foam. I rounded the corners on the wave panel. I created a kraft card base and rounded those corners also. Lastly, I adhered the wave panel to the kraft card base.

Color Layering Rooster

July 25, 2017

I just bought the Hero Arts’ Color Layering Rooster set. This is the most detailed color layer set I have used to date. It was a lot of fun and I can’t wait to play with it some more.

I added a thank you stamp for the inside of the card. I also drew some ground in with a brown water color pencil. I used a water brush to smooth out the pencil.

Water Color Starfish

July 23, 2017

This is just a fun little card I made to enter in a few challenges this week.

20245803_10208272694809718_5713932674307740260_n

Details

Size:  Vertical side fold A2 card

Extra Details:  I began this card with a panel of water color paper. I stamped the sentiment first and then covered the rest of the panel in starfish. I clear heat embossed everything.

I added some clean water to each starfish and dropped in some Distress Ink using a paint brush. I let the first layer of color dry before added a second layer for a deeper color. Once all the starfish were dried, I added alight wash of blue to the background.

While that dried, I worked on the card base. I choose a dark blue card base and stamped a wave pattern with white pigment ink. Once everything was dry, I adhered the water color panel to the card base with foam tape.
