Nested Hearts

April 29, 2018

The Simon Says Stamp May 2018 Card Kit arrived yesterday and I couldn’t wait to play with it. These are the first two cards I made with the kit. I used stacked die cuts and some tone on tone stamping.

Size:  Vertical side fold A2 card

Extra Details:  I began these cards by die cutting some hearts from the card stock included in the kit. I used the negative spaces on Card one. I adhered them all to a grey card base. I stamped the sentiment in a dark grey ink. I stamped leaves in a blue ink to the top layer of card stock.

I stamped the same sentiment on the ivory heart for the second card before adhering it to all the other hearts. I added some grey flowers to a grey card base before adhering the hearts to another grey card base.

These cards turned out great. I love the colors.

Flowers in Boots

April 22, 2018

I love the stamp sets that were included in the Simon Says Stamp March 2018 Card Kit. I made these two cards with the same images, but used different colors.

Extra Details:  I began this card by stamping the images on some smooth white card stock. I used black ink and Prismacolor pencils to color everything in. I trimmed the colored panels into smaller rectangles. I layered them on some slightly larger rectangles of colored cardstocks.

I die cut two panels of Kraft cardstock with a stitched rectangle die. I added some interest to the Kraft panels with a gingham stamp. I used white pigment ink on one panel and light brown ink on the other. I adhered each panel to a larger panel of the colored card stock. I adhered these to white card bases. I adhered the stamped panels onto the matching cards.

Originally, I was planning on leaving the cards without sentiments, but it just didn’t feel right. So I quickly stamped, colored, and fussy cut the sentiment plaques. I adhered those under the colored images and the cards were finished.

Sympathy Brown Dog

April 22, 2018

I need a card to send to a friend whose dog recently passed away. Making sympathy cards is very difficult for me. I don’t really have any sympathy stamp sets and I have difficulty finding sentiments that work. In the end, I think this card turned out ok.

I stamped a dog images on some water color paper with Simon Says Stamp’s Barely Beige Ink. I used the matching die to cut the dog out. I used some Daniel Smith watercolors to paint in the dog. I added some blue to the edge of the die cut for a pop of color. I stamped and gold embossed the sentiment on the same water color paper. I used a banner die to cut out the sentiment.

I found a square of velum and adhered the dog and banner to that. I hid some foam tape behind the dog and banner to left the velum off the card base.

Pinata Slider

April 22, 2018

About two months ago, I watched a YouTube video in which someone made a card using a hillside border die to create a tree truck. What a brilliant idea! This is the card I made using the same idea. It is also a slider card.

Size:  Vertical top fold A2 card

Extra Details:  I began this card by stamping and coloring the piñata and candy images. I used Prismacolor pencils. I used the matching dies to cut everything out.

Next, I created the white card base. I knew I wanted to decorate the inside of the card, so I created the inside of the card first. I stamped the ending of the sentiment and the confetti pieces in a variety of inks that matched my coloring. I adhered the candy pieces with liquid glue and set the whole thing aside to dry.

While the inside of the card was drying, I worked on the slider panel for the front of the card. I die cut a stitched rectangle from some light blue, green, and Kraft card stocks. I used a simple stitched hill side border to create a tree trunk from the Kraft panel. I stamped it with a wood grain patter also. I used a grassy border to create two layers of grass form the green panel. I adhered the taller green grass layer to the light blue panel. Next, I adhered the Kraft tree trunk and then I adhered the last green grass layer. I stamped the sentiment.

Using a hole punch and kraft knife to create a slider track. It is not the smoothest cut but it works. I added some foam tape to the back of the panel, making sure to leave space around the slider track. I adhere some twine and a small foam dot to the back of the piñata. I pushed the foam dot through the slider track and adhered it to a dime. I added a scrap of light blue card stock behind the slider track to help it blend in. I adhered the other end of the twine to the top of the panel, making sure that the piñata can freely move along the track. Lastly, I adhered the panel to the card base.

Hip Hands Birthday

April 21, 2018

I needed a card for a 10 year old girl who loves colors and all thing fashion.  This is the card I came up with.  I love the bright colors and shiny, sparkly nails.

Extra Details: I began this card by covering a white card base with some Lawn Fawn’s Really Rainbow paper. This paper inspired by color choices.

I die cut a stitched rectangle from some white card stock. I also die cut the numbers 1 and 0 from the rainbow paper. I added the outline images to the number die cuts.

I stamped the hands on opposite corners using Tattered Rose Distress Ink as it was ink that was closest to the skin color I needed. I used a variety of colored ink to fill I the nails. I added some pattern to the nails with a Sharpie Pen.

I adhered the stamped panel to the card base with foam tape. I glued the numbers down flat to the card.

I stamped and embossed the rest of the sentiment on black card stock. I trimmed them down to little strips and used foam tape to adhere them to the card.

I added a left over strip of patterned paper and another sentiment to the inside of the card.

Lastly, I added Wink of Stella and Glossy Accents to the nails and numbers.

Happy Trails

April 21, 2018

A friend of mine requested an anniversary card for her parents. The parents enjoy traveling together, mostly by car. This is the card I created for her,

Extra Details:  I began this card by creating my frame. I used the stitched rectangle dies from Lawn Fawn’s Scalloped Box Card Pop Up. I cute them from two panels of white card stock and two panels of Kraft card stock. I stamped one layer of the Kraft card stock with Versa Mark ink and a wood grain backdrop. I glued all of the frames together and set them aside to dry.

I used the stitched rectangles from one of the white panels to stamp my scenes on.  Anything that needed to be colored in, I used Prismacolor pencils on. Using my frame as a guide, I adhered the panels to a white card base. I also adhered the frames.

While everything was drying, I stamped the cars and banner on a separate piece of white card stock. Again, I used Prismacolor pencils to color them in. I fussy cut them out right on the black line. I painted the edges black to hide any cutting errors. I added the cars to my scenes using foam dots.

I added another sentiment to the inside of the card. I had a small car left over, so I adhered that also. Overall, I really like this card.

Fingerprint Birtday

April 21, 2018

When I was using the Simon Says Stamp Fingerprint Doodles stamp set on another card, I thought of this design. This time I made it a birthday card, because you can never have enough birthday cards.

Size:  Vertical side fold A2 card

Extra Details:  I began this card with a white card base. Using my MISTI, I stamped a pattern of fingerprint on the card front. I used four different colors of ink; Lawn Fawn’s Butter, Peachy Keen, Moonstone, and Minty Fresh. I wanted the color placement to look random.

Once all the fingerprints were stamped, I added the animal outlines. I used Lawn Fawn’s Deep Sea ink for this.

I had a small cross stitched frame in my stash, so I used the Minty Fresh ink to color it to match the card. I stamped the fish and sentiment on a scrap of white car stock. I adhered the panel to the frame and popped everything up with foam tape.

Fingerprint Congrats

April 21, 2018

This card was inspired by the current Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: Let’s Doodle. I do not like my own doodling but I love the look of Simon Says Stamp’s Fingerprint Doodles stamps.  I added the anniversary sentiment on the inside so I could send it to friends who are celebrating their anniversary.

Extra Details:  I began this card by die cutting a cross stitched rectangle from some smooth white card stock. I stamped the two of the fingerprint stamps in colored inks. I added the doodles on top with black ink. Using the same ink, I added the sentiment. I choose the small sentiment so the card would be super clean and simple. I added a small peach heart between the cats. I used a Sharpie Pen to doodle my own heart on the colored heart. I adhered this panel to the card front with some foam tape.

I added the happy anniversary sentiment to the inside of the card with a trio of colored hearts. I drew my own black hearts on these also.

Keep Calm and Be Hoppy

April 21, 2018

I made this card for my co teacher. We were having a rough week at school and I felt she could use a pick me up. This is also the first card I made with the Pivot Pop Up die. I really love this die. It is easy to use and makes a really big impact.

Size:  Vertical top fold A2 card

Extra Details:  I began this card with a top fold white card base. Using grey ink, I stamped a wood grain pattern on the front and inside of the card.

Next, I die cut the Pivot Pop Up Die Pieces. I also die cut some cross stitched rectangles. I used these rectangles to create the pieces for the front focal panel. I used two shades of blue card stock and some green card stock. Using double sided tape I adhered all of the pieces together to create my scenes for both the front and side of the card.  I used the same double sided tape to adhere the scenes to the card base

I stamped the sentiments on my card. My black ink pad is very dry and it shows. However, I did not use my Misti so I went with the distressed look.

I stamped the images from Toadally Awesome on some white card stock. I used Prismacolor pencils to color everything in. I fussy cut out tall of the images leaving a small white border.  Lastly, I adhered all of the images to the two scenes and the card was finished
