Snowflake Thanks

November 28, 2016

This card layout came to me one morning in the shower. I couldn’t decide which color scheme I want to use, so I did one card in each scheme.

Both cards together

The grey and silver combo.  I think this one might be my favorite.

The kraft and gold combo

Size:  Vertical top fold A2 card

Extra Details: I started by created my card bases; one kraft and white. I stamped a wood grain back ground on each card base. I used a light grey ink for the white card base and Versa Mark ink on the kraft card base.

I then die cute some stitched rectangles for the layers on each card. I used a brown cardstock and a grey card stock for the largest layers. I added some snowflakes to the large layers; white pigment ink on the grey layer and Versa Mark on the brown. I used clear embossing powder on both layers.

For the smallest layers, I used the same paper as the card bases. I die cut the Thanks from each layer; I only wanted the negative area. I made sure to save the little pieces. Using Versa Mark ink, I stamped and heat embossed a large snowflake above the die cut word. I used silver embossing powder on the white layer and gold on the kraft layer. I added a strip of velum behind the layer to hold the two pieces together and help the die cut word stand out. I glued the little insides parts from the letters right on the velum.

Then, I put on the finishing touches each card. For the white/silver card, I just added a gem in the middle of the large snowflake. On the kraft/gold card, I added some gold embossing powder to the edges of each layer.

For both cards, I popped the smallest layers up on some fun foam before attaching it to the middle layer. I adhered the middle layer flat to the card base and these cards were done.
