The school my kids attend is having a basket auction fundraiser soon. I am donating a card set to the auction. I choose to do a set of punny vegetable cards. I choose this theme for a few reasons; a) they are fairly generic so the cards can be sent to anyone for almost any occasion, b) my kids school plants a garden every spring, and finally, c) I found a fun vegetable puns that made me laugh.
This first set I made used radishes. The layout for each card is the same, but the colors change in each card.
All 5 cards together
Size: Vertical A2 cards; There are two top fold cards and three side fold cards
Extra Details: I began by creating the card bases. I had some extra half sheets of water color paper laying around that I used to turn into card bases, which is why some are top fold and some are side fold. Then, I created the square grid using Mini Distress Ink Cubes. I used a water brush to even out each of the squares.
While the card bases were drying, I stamped the radishes in the same Distress Ink colors on a scrap of water color paper. I added the leaves using the same colors. I used a water brush to even out the ink on each of the radishes and leaves. Once the radishes were dry, I stamped the faces and leaf lines with black ink. I stamped the cheeks in white pigment ink and added some dots with a white gel pen.
Then, I spend a lot of time fussy cutting out each of the 45 radishes. I adhered the radishes to the card bases with liquid glue and glue dots. I was running out of everything as I made these cards, so I used whatever I could get my hands on.
Lastly, I added the custom sentiment. I LOVE these cards.
