Punny Veggie Box

April 10, 2017

The school my kids attend is having a basket auction fundraiser soon. I am donating a card set to the auction. I choose to do a set of punny vegetable cards. I choose this theme for a few reasons; a) they are fairly generic so the cards can be sent to anyone for almost any occasion, b) my kids school plants a garden every spring, and finally, c) I found a fun vegetable pun that made me laugh.

I made three different card designs and envelopes for this card set. Now, I needed something to present all of these goodies in. I looked around my house and found the box from the Simon Says Stamp Card Kit, then inspiration hit. I had a lot of fun creating this box. I am sure I will be doing this again.

Details

Size:  9” x 12.5” box

Extra Details:  I started by creating the dividers for the inside of the box. I used 1.5” strips of blue card stock that I folded in to fourths. I used very strong double sided tape to adhere the bottom folds to the bottom of the box. I also folded the ends of each divider to adhere them to the sides of the box or the other divider.

I also cut blue card stock strips to cover the sides of the box. I cut a large blue rectangle to cover the top of the box. I adhered everything with strong double sided tape. I used a small rectangle of the same card stock to make the pen pocket.

Then I began the decorating process. I cut strips of white card stock to 1” and .75”. I stamped the leaves and stakes on the strips. I included the detail and work stamps also. I adhered these strips to the sides of the box and the lid (inside and out).

Next, I created the label for the top of the box. I used two of my alpha sets to stamp the title and the contents. I added the same veggie tops stamping to the bottom of the panel. I die cut the panel with a cross stitched rectangle and adhered it to the lid.

Lastly, I filled my box. I only included 10 of the 13 cards I made. I kept one of each design and matching envelopes. I wrapped each card set and the envelopes in a strip of clear page protector. I did this to keep them together and closed.  I put each design in its own area. I added the pen on the stamps to the inside lid of the box and closed it up.

I really really LOVE this box. I can’t wait to make more.
