Upbeet Birthday

January 21, 2017

My mother in law needed a birthday card for a close friend. Here is the card I came up with. I LOVE this card.

Size:  Horizontal side fold A2 card

Extra Details:  I started with some yellow card stock that I die cut with a large cross stitched rectangle. Then, I used a stitched line border to create rays on my panel. Using some Post It Tape, I masked off every other ray and stamped some stars. I used three different shades of yellow Distress Inks. Once all the rays were stamped, I added some ink blending to the center point.

Next, I die cut a small stitched circle from some water color paper. I ink smooshed some blue Distress Ink on the circle. While that was drying, I looked through my box of pre-colored and cut images. I found this beet image and couldn’t wait to use it. I glued it right on the inked circle.

For the sentiment, I die cut a small black banner and used white embossing powder. I adhered the banner flat to the yellow panel and then layered the circle on top with some fun foam. Lastly, I adhered the yellow panel to a card base.

New Home for the Holidays

November 7, 2016

My mother in law is moving into a new house on December 1st. I made this special card for her. I’m hoping I can make her smile in the midst of all the packing/moving craziness.

Extra Details:  I started with a panel of water color card stock that is 4.25” x 5.5”. I used a die to cut a rounded edge at the top of the panel. Next, I stamped my images and sentiment on the panel. I used a blue pigment ink for the tree. I used red, yellow and green pigment inks to fill in the ornaments and the star.

I used the sentiment from Lawn Fawn’s Snow Cool stamp set, but added a few words to fit the situation.

I added some ink blending the edges of the panel with Distress inks. I used a scrap of paper to create a mask so I could ink blend in a snow bank also. I, also, used Distress Inks to water color everything in.

While the panel was drying, I worked on the card base. I made the card base from dark blue card stock. I used Lawn Fawn’s Yeti White Pigment ink to stamp the falling snow on the card base.

Once the inks were all dry, I adhered the stamped panel to the card base and the card was complete.

Sweet Halloween

October 9, 2016

I found a new Flikr Group, LOVE! – Hand made Cards, ATCs, and other crafts. They have a monthly challenge and I thought I would give it a try this month. The theme for this month is Coloring the Season with non-traditional colors. This is the card I came up with.

Size:  Horizontal top fold A2 card

Extra Details:  I started by cutting a panel of water color paper to 5.5 x 3”. Using the Lawn Fawn Stitched Borders I added the cross stitch detail to the edge of the panel. I used washi tape to mask off a strip. I used six colors of Distress Inks to create my rainbow. Some of the images inked in one color and then added a second color to help the transitions between colors.

Once I finished the rainbow stamping, I peeled up the washi tape. I added a sentiment in the masked area. I combined two stamp sets to create my sentiment. I also added two more tiny images near my sentiment. I used a silver gel pen to outline my sentiment area.

Lastly, I adhered the panel to a black card base and the card was done.
