Hello Friends

September 9, 2017

I had a scarecrow and a few crows left over from my Happy Harvest card. I didn’t want to waste them, so I created a fairly simple scene card with them.

Details

Size:  Vertical top fold A2 card

Extra Details:  I began this card with some pre-colored images. I used Prismacolor pencils to color all of the images. I fussy cut them out and painted the edges black.

I used water color paper to create a card base. I ink smooshed some green and blue Distress Inks onto an acrylic block. I sprayed the ink with water before smooshing the block onto the card base. I used a bit too much water; you can see where some of the color leak out around the edges of my acrylic block. I added two layers of color with the same technique.

Once the ink was dry, I used foam squares to adhere the scarecrow and crows to the card front. Lastly, I added the sentiment using black ink.

Happy Harvest

Fall is in the air. The temperature has dropped and I am in the mood for anything related to fall. This card is the result of that mood.

Size:  Horizontal side fold A2 card

Extra Details:  I began this card by stamping and coloring all of the images. I used Prismacolor pencils to color in everything but the corn stalks. I stamped the stalks in Lawn Fawn Sunflower ink and Hero Arts Pumpkin Pie Ink. Once everything was colored, I fussy cut them out. I cut right on the line for all of the images I colored with colored pencils. I painted the edges black to hide any cutting mistakes. I did leave a white border on the corn stalks.

I used my die cutting machine to create a brown frame, two grassy borders and a blue sky. I adhered the blue sky flat to the tan card base. I added the taller grassy border to the blue sky. I used foam tape on the frame and the second layer of grass. Then, I began placing all of my images. I used foam tape of a few of them to help create lots of dimension on this card.

I added a bushel of apples to the lower left corner of the card. I placed it outside the frame so the sizing of all of the images would make more sense. Lastly, I stamped the sentiment on a strip of velum and adhered that under the apple basket.

Ghost Trick or Treat

August 27, 2017

After I finished the Halloween Dog Cards Set, I had four ink smooshed backgrounds left over. I didn’t want to waste them, so I created four more Halloween cards. This time the design is the pretty much the same for each card. One is different because I was running out of pieces.

Size:  Horizontal top fold A2 cards

Extra Details:  I began this card with the four orange ink smooshed backgrounds, four black card bases and four white liners. I had done enough with the dogs so I moved on to another Halloween stamp set in my stash.

I stamped and white heat embossed some frames on black card stock. I fussy cut out the frames on bother the outside and inside. I stamped the same frames on white card stock. I stamped my images on the white frames and used colored pencils to color them in. I trimmed the colored frames to be smaller than the back frames. I adhered the white frames to the black frames.

The sentiment I wanted to use was too large from any of the frames, so I partial stamped a frame and made it large. I did this with both black and white frames. I layered the sentiment behind the black frame so it matched the others.

Next, I began playing with the layout of my card front. I adhered the frames to the orange ink smooshed pieces. I trimmed any pieces that hung over. For the fourth card, I used a few of the small pieces I cut off to finish the design.

I stamped a sentiment on the liner and added a treat bag and some candy corn. I used colored pencils to add color to the images on the liner. Then I adhered it to the card base.

I also made envelopes to go with these cards.

Halloween Dog Card Set

August 27, 2017

I just bought Lawn Fawn’s Happy Howloween Stamp set and I couldn’t resist dressing those dogs up. I ended up with 16 cards by the time I was done. I used the same basic design for each card, but switched up sentiments, images, background stamps, and background dies to give some interest.

Extra Details:  I began these cards by stamping and coloring all of the cute dogs and their costumes. I used Prismacolor Pencils to color everything in. I fussy cut everything out and painted the edges black with a marker. Then I began dressing the dogs. They turned out so cute.

I created my orange backgrounds, next. I smooshed some orange Distress Inks on four full sheets of water color paper. I let the ink air dry. Once dry, I used Ripe Persimmon Distress Ink to add some interest to these back grounds using background stamps.

Next, my die cut machine became my best friend. I cut the picture frames, grassy borders, little town borders, and stitched tree borders from a variety of colored card stock. I used a stitched rectangle die to doe cut the ink smooshed backgrounds. I created a piece of glow in the dark cardstock with some Versa Mark ink and Wow’s Glow in the Dark embossing powder. I die cut the lights behind the windows and doors for the little town die and the stars.

Then, I stamped the greetings on the frames. I used four different sentiments for some variety. I began constructing my cards next. I layered the scenes behind the frames. I used a purple pattern paper for the sky.  Once the scenes were created, I adhered the frames to the ink smooshed pieces. I adhered the dogs with some foam tape.

I created 16 black card bases and white liners. I adhered the ink smooshed pieces flat to the card fronts. I added a sentiment and some candy corn to the liners. I used colored pencils to add color to the candy corn. I added a note about glowing in the dark and then adhered the liner to the card.

I have donated a few of these to a local basket raffle so I also created matching envelopes. I stamped a trick or treat bag to the back flap and bottom left corner on the front. I used colored pencils to add some color.

Favorite Human

August 27, 2017

I just love the little monsters from Monster Mash as aliens. I used a number of stamp sets to create the sentiment.

Extra Details: I began this card by stamping and clear heat embossing all of the images. I used Crayola Fine Line markers and a paint brush to water color each of the images in. Once dry, I fussy cut them out leaving a small white border.

I die cut a Stitched Hillside from some water color paper and used Distress Inks to create a moon type landscape for my monsters to stand on.

Next, I created a dark blue card base. I used a background stamp and some navy ink to add texture to the card front. I white heat embossed the sentiment in the center of the card. I added the monsters with foam tape and adhered the planets flat to the card base.

Because I used some a dark card base, I added a white liner to the inside of the card. I finished my custom sentiment and added a line of small stars.

Christmas Tags 3.1: Donut Peek

August 13, 2017

I love donut puns. So I had to make some Christmas tags using a donut pun.

36362682092_947339c0f9_o

Details

Size:  tags

Extra Details: I started with a full sheet of white card stock. I drew a line 2 inches from each long side. Then using a grey marker, a green glitter gel pen, and a pink gel pen, I created a plaid pattern. I then die cut the tag shape from the plaid paper. I made sure to line the bottom of the tag up with the open area to leave myself room for the sentiment. I trimmed a piece of grey card stock to about 1/8th of an inch and adhered it over the line at the bottom of the tag. I added the sentiment in grey ink.

Then, I started working on the donuts. I white heat embossed the donuts on dark brown card stock. I fussy cut them out, leaving a small border. I stamped the donuts on some white card stock with Barely Beige ink. I fussy cut out just the frosting on the line this time. I went over the sprinkles with the same gel pens I used to create the plaid paper. To give the frosting a shiny appearance, I smooshed the pieces in Versa Mark ink and clear embossed the whole thing. Then I adhered the frosting to the brown donuts. I used foam tape to adhere the donuts to the tags.

I stamped, fussy cut, and colored some holly leaves to add to the donuts. I think they add just the right touch.

To finish the tags, I die cute some plain white tags. I stamped “to”, “from”, and a donut in grey ink on them. Lastly, I adhered the plaid tag to the plain tag and added some grey reinforces.

Barrels of Fun

August 13, 2017

This is a birthday card for one of my very best friends. She loves purple, monkeys, and all things a little over the top.

Extra Details:  I began by stamping and clear embossing all of the images. I used Crayola Fine Line markers and a water brush to water color everything in. I used a white gel pen, to add some details to the party hats and letters. Once the images were dry, I die cut everything out with the matching dies.

I die cut two stitched rectangles from some water color paper. Once was for the front of the card and one was for the inside liner.  I used three shades of green Distress Ink to ink smoosh on the front panel. Once the smooshed ink was dry, I added some leaves using two of the same Distress Inks. Then, I began creating my scene. I glue the vines and bottom monkey to the panel with liquid glue. I used dimensional glue dots for most of the monkeys. I used thin foam tape for the letters. Once, I had the main images on, I tucked in the extra leaves and hearts. Then, I stamped the custom sentiment. Thank goodness for the Misti! I double stamped the sentiment to make it really stand out against the ink smooshing. Lastly, I adhered the panel to an orange card base.

For the inside panel, I stamped the sentiment and adhered an extra bunch of bananas and some leaves. I couldn’t let that adorable monkey but go to waste so I adhered that to the inside panel with another banana.

Water Color Starfish

July 23, 2017

This is just a fun little card I made to enter in a few challenges this week.

Size:  Vertical side fold A2 card

Extra Details:  I began this card with a panel of water color paper. I stamped the sentiment first and then covered the rest of the panel in starfish. I clear heat embossed everything.

I added some clean water to each starfish and dropped in some Distress Ink using a paint brush. I let the first layer of color dry before added a second layer for a deeper color. Once all the starfish were dried, I added alight wash of blue to the background.

While that dried, I worked on the card base. I choose a dark blue card base and stamped a wave pattern with white pigment ink. Once everything was dry, I adhered the water color panel to the card base with foam tape.

Water Color Robots

July 23, 2017

I was using blue ink on my acrylic block one day. When I was done, rather than cleaning it up, I sprayed some water and smooshed it on to a panel of water color card stock. I had used the side of the block with the etched in grid lines, it gave the panel some interesting texture.

Size:  Vertical side fold A2 card

Extra Details:  I began with my water color panel; I trimmed it down and rounded the corners. Then I stamped, colored and cut some images on a scrap of water color card stock. I used Distress Inks to stamp with and as water colors. While cutting, I left a small white border on everything.

Then, I began assembling my scene. I found a scrap of green card stock that I used to ground my robots. I adhered the robots and gift with foam tape. I adhered the balloons flat to the panel, but did let a few hang off the panel for interest.

Lastly, I adhered the water color panel to a grey card base.

Ferris Wheel Sunset

July 16, 2017

A few weeks ago, I made a bunch of ink smooshed backgrounds. I made this card using one and will be entering it in the current Lawn Fawnatics Challenge.

Extra Details:  I began this card a few weeks ago by making the ink smooshed background. Using Distress Inks and an acrylic block, I applied color to some water color paper. I let the block sit on the paper for at least five minutes to get the intense color. I love the results of this technique. Once, I removed the block, I set the panel aside to air.

I love the Admit One stamp set from Lawn Fawn and colorful backgrounds. I stamped the Ferris Wheel and sentiment in black ink. I added the ground with a black Sharpie. I adhered this panel to an orange card base.

Because of the colored card base, I decided to add a liner to the inside. I added some tickets to the bottom of the liner for added interest.
