Pony Thank You Cards

January 29, 2017

My daughter’s birthday is over and that means THANK YOU CARDS! We spend most of the day creating cards. I, personally, think it was a great day.

I found ink smooshing to be a quick way to create a lot of interesting cards. We made nine Thank You cards, three teacher valentine cards, and one birthday card in one afternoon.

Size:  Horizontal side fold A2 cards

Extra Details: We started by stamping the pony images on some watercolor paper. I used Distress Inks to water color all of the ponies. I only used two colors on each pony. Once the ink was dry, I fussy cut them out.

We die cut some stitched panels from water color paper. Using the same Distress Inks, I ink smooshed two colors on each panel. I let the first color dry before adding the second color. Once the second color was dry, I added another layer of the first color. Once those colors were dry, I flicked some black ink on to create some very small drops of black ink. These didn’t turn exactly the way I had hoped, but the overall effect is nice.

While everything was drying for the last time, I die cut the Scripty Thanks from some black card stock. I adhered the matching pony and one Thanks to each panel. Then I added some details to the ponies with a white gel pen and some colored glitter gel pens. It was such a fun detail to add.

Lastly, I made my card bases and attached the water color panels and the cards were done.

Birthday Teacher Tags

January 26, 2017

My daughter’s birthday is in two days. Today is the day she will celebrate in school. This year, she decided to bring in a treat for the faculty and staff as well as her class mates. She was concerned that if she left the dip and chips in the faculty dining room, that some teachers would miss it. So we made tags for her to hand out to each faculty and staff member. 36 in all!

Extra Details:  I started by printing the text on some pink card stock using my regular printer. I trimmed out each block of text using my paper trimmer and a stitched rectangle die. Then, we die cut scalloped circles from kraft cardstock.

Next, we stamped some birthday hats in pink ink on the kraft paper circles. We also stamped some birthday hats on a striped patterned paper. I used the matching die to die cut each of the striped birthday hats. I colored in the top pom-pom bit with a white gel pen to help it stand out a bit.

Then, we adhered everything together. We punched a flower shaped hole and added some pink curling ribbon and the tags were done.

Penguin Birthday Invites

January 16, 2017

My daughter wanted to send invitations to her grandparents to invite to her birthday luncheon. Here are the invitations she designed and helped to make.

Details

Size:  Vertical side fold A2 card

Extra Details:  We started with the card bases. I scored and folded each pink card base 2 and 1/8t inches from the sides. Next, we die cut the heart from the front panels. It took two passes to cut each heart. Lastly, we dry embossed the front panels with a Darice embossing folder.

I die cut stitched rectangles from some white card stock for the inside of each card. We stamped the images and then my daughter colored them in using Crayola Markers and gel pens. Once she was done coloring I adhered each white panel inside the pink card bases.

Then, we made the belly bands to help keep the cards closed in the envelopes. I cut strips of black card stock and white heat embossed the sentiment. Lastly, I carefully centered and folded the strip around the card. I used some tape runner to adhere the strip to itself in the back.

I plan on printing the information for the luncheon on some pink card stock and die cutting it out to add to the bottom of each invitation.

Penguin Birthday Card

December 31, 2016

I don’t know how it happened or how I survived, but I did. I have made it through another December. The kiddos had a great holiday season with visits to Santa, plays, gatherings with family and friends, baking sessions, and many gifts to open. My poor blog has been much neglected this month. I am taking this last day of 2016 to post everything I made in December. The details may be scarce but at least there are pictures.

This is the card my daughter made for her GG. We have discovered how wonderful watercolor pencils are. She was able to color the sky and igloos and then blended the colors together with water. The effect is a beautiful sky.

Fairy and Mermaid Birthday Sets

December 31, 2016

I don’t know how it happened or how I survived, but I did. I have made it through another December. I am taking this last day of 2016 to post everything I made in December. The details may be scarce but at least there are pictures.

My daughter attended a birthday party at the beginning of the month for twin girls. She gave each girl a drawing pad, colored pencils, and a pencil case. To make the drawing pads unique for each girl, we stamped a color your own scene on the front cover. We also made shaker cards to match the scenes.

My daughter had two birthday parties in one day. She was able to attend both and wanted to make cards for both. She settled on the same design for both cards for the sake of time.

Birthday Cards with the Kiddos

November 13, 2016

It is time to make birthday cards at my house again. Both of my kiddos have a friend with a birthday in the coming week.

This is the card my daughter made to mail family friend for his 6th birthday.

Details

Size:  Both cards are standard A2 card

Extra Details:  We started by stamping the images on a panel of water color paper. I used some masking on the deer card. Once the ink was dry, the kiddos colored their images with Crayola markers. While, the kiddos were coloring, I added some images to the colored card bases.

For the pink card, we die cut the images with a Polaroid die. I die cute two extra frames and layered them together with liquid glue. We glued the Polaroid frame to the card base, added the inside picture and the card was done.

For the blue card, I fussy cut the images along the top edge. I had smeared some ink while stamping on the top of the panel, so I just cut off the smeared part off. We attached the stamped piece with dimensional glue dots and the card was done.

Halloween Treat Boxes

October 31. 2016

These are the treat boxes my children made for their classmates. Each box had a Halloween tempory tattoo, the skeleton sunglasses, and a very small piece of candy in it.

Details

Size:  Pillow boxes made from 6 x 6 patterned paper.

Extra Details:  I die cut the stitched rectangles from white cardstock. I stamped the sentiments and images on each rectangle. Using water color pencils I add some color to the edges of each rectangle. Once dry, the children signed their names.

I cut some 12 x 12 patterned paper into 6 x 6 squares. I used the We R Memory Keepers pillow box punch board to create the pillow boxes. I stuffed all the goodies inside and attached the rectangles to the outside. The glasses wouldn’t fit, so I just tucked the arms into the boxes.

S’more Fun With You

October 19, 2016

Last weekend, my family and I were invited to a bonfire at a friend’s house. We had a great time roasting marshmallows and playing with their new dog.

This is the thank you card that the kiddos and I created to thank our friends.

Details

Size:  Vertical top fold A2 card

Extra Details:  I wanted to make a one layer card so I started by creating a card base from water color paper.  Next I stamped the images on the card base. I only masked the single marshmallow on the stick. I wanted that marshmallow to be on fire and on the stick. We burned quite a few marshmallows that night.

I added the sentiment on the top section of the card and used a thin black Sharpie to draw in the horizon line.

I used some water color pencils to color the whole card. The kiddos helped me with the grass and sky. It worked out great. I was able to add water to smooth out the coloring. I kept the color away from the sentiment so that it would remain readable. Once the card was dry I was able to mail it.
