Water Color Hearts

January 15, 2018

I know this card design has been done a number of times since the Simon Says Stamp Best Ever Stamp set was released in the September 2017 card kit, but I had to make it too. Those hearts just scream to be heat embossed and water colored. I could decide which color of embossing powder to use, so I made three cards.

Extra Details:  I began these cards by making some card bases form some water color paper. Then I stamped and embossed the sentiment and images on each card base.

I used my Crayola Fine Line Markers to water color in the images. Each card has the same colors in the same order. To help the white embossed hearts stand out more, I colored the background light blue.

Stamps Used: Simon Says Stamp’s Best Ever

Embossing Powder: Simon Says Stamp’s White Fine Detail, Silver Ultra Fine and Gold Ultra Fine

Ink: Versa Mark

Hope you enjoyed the cards!

Winter Village

January 15, 2018

I know that it is really early to be starting Christmas cards for December 2018 already, but that’s what I’m doing. I have a few relatives who have requested holiday cards for next December and I decided that it would be best if I started working on them now. Here is the first card design I came up with.

Size:  Vertical top fold A2 card

Extra Details:  I began this card by cutting some water color paper into top folding A2 sized cards. I stamped the images in Antique Linen Distress ink. I used other Distress Inks to water color the images in. I was going for a no-line look.

After the Distress Inks had dried, I added a sentiment with grey ink. I felt this fit better with the soft water color look than a black ink would have. Lastly, I covered the whole thing with a light glaze of Distress Micro Glaze to keep the inks safe.

I really like the way this card design turned out.

Stamps Used: Lawn Fawn’s Winter Village and Winter in the Park

Ink: Simon Says Stamp’s Slate

Various Distress Inks

Hope you enjoyed the card!

Extra Details:  I began this card by cutting the kraft card stock included in the kit into four 4.25 by 5.5 inch panels. I decided to create the four panels and not card bases so that I could get more use from the cardstock in the kit.

I took one panel and scored it every ¾ of an inch. I adhered strips of the patterned paper in-between the score line.

I used one of the cut aparts form the patterned paper pack for the sentiment. I matted it on another piece of patterned paper and adhered it with some foam tape.

I adhered the kraft panel to a white card base and the card was complete.

Kind Flowers in Blues

January 15, 2018

I made a few card sets to give as Christmas gifts this year, but I never got around to blogging them till now. Here is the blue set of cards I made.

Size:  Horizontal side fold A2 card

Extra Details:  I began these six cards by creating six card bases from some water color paper. Then I used my acrylic blocks to smoosh on some blue Distress inks. I let the ink sit for about five minutes before removing the block to get a more intense color.

Once the ink smooshing was dry, I stamped the image on to the cards. I used Versa Mark ink and Simon Says Stamp’s Steel Navy embossing powder.

Finally, I added the sub sentiment to the cards. I stamp the sentiment on a small strip of water color paper with a grey ink. Then, I adhered the strips with some foam tape.

The recipient love this card set for both its handmade qualities and the really beautiful sentiments.

Jar of Conversation Hearts

January 14, 2018

These are the prototypes for the Valentines I want to make for my class. I have 30 to make in total so I have order the die to make the cutting much easier.

Extra Details: I began these cards by folding a 5 inch strip of water color paper in half. I stamped the jar outline in Lawn Fawn’s Moonstone ink. I added the conversations hearts with Versa Fine ink and the saying in Hero Arts Red Royal ink. I used some more Lawn Fawn ink as water colors to add the colors to the heart.  On a separate piece of water color paper, I stamped the lids in Lawn Fawn Hippo ink. I used the same ink to water color in the lids.

Once everything was dry, I fussy cut the images out leaving a small white border. I made sure to leave the fold intact so the card would open. I used a liquid glue to adhere the lids to the card bases.

Using some light pink card stock, I die cut the heart shaped tiny tag. I stamped the sentiment in the same Red Royal ink. I used some red and white twine from my stash to tie the tag to my card.
I think these are so cute and they weren’t too time consuming to make. I can’t wait for my students to see them.
