Red Water Color Card Set

January 17, 2018

This is a set of cards I made as a Christmas gift. The sentiment is actually the negative piece left over for the Purple Water Color Card Set.

Size:  Vertical top fold A2 cards

Extra Details:  I began these cards by created some card bases from water color paper. I used an acrylic block and some pink and red Distress Inks to create the backgrounds. I used the ink smooshing techniques. I used a large block which is why the ink smooshing isn’t very consistent from card to card.

The sentiments are the negative die cuts from a previous project. Once the ink was dry, I was able to adhere the white sentiment rectangles onto the card base.

Challenges Entered:

Simon Says Stamp’s Wednesday Challenge: Add a Sentiment

Dies Used: Lawn Fawn’s Quinn’s Capital ABCs

Hope you enjoyed the cards!

Purple Watercolor Card Set

January 17, 2018

This is a set of cards I made as a gift for Christmas. The ink on these cards didn’t smoosh as well as I expected. However, they still turned out beautiful.

Extra Details:  I began these cards by creating some card bases from smooth white card stock. Then, I die cut a Scripty thanks die from some Post – It Notes. I used these as masks. I placed one mask on each card front. Then I began stamping.

I used seven different colors of ink to create my rainbow. I overlapped the colors just a little to make the word really easy to read. I also turned the stamp 90 degrees when I changed colors.

Once I was done stamping, I removed the masks and had these beautiful cards.

Welcome Banner January 2018

January 16, 2018

This is the January 2018 Welcome Banner for my classroom. There was a lot of purple card stock in my stash, so I used it to make this banner. I love the unexpected color and the super cute penguins together.

Size:  4.25 x 7 inch panels

Extra Details: I began these panels by stamping the snowy backdrop from Snow Cool on each panel of light purple card stock. I added some more detailed snowflakes over the top of the backdrop for added interest. I used white pigment ink for all of this stamping.

While the white pigment ink was drying, I die cut some darker purple cardstock with a forest border die. It wasn’t quite dark enough for my tastes so I ink blended a darker purple ink over the whole border. I love the way the ink blending created just the right color.

I also die cut a bunch of white stitched hillsides. I layer one hill over each purple forest and then adhered it to the light purple panels. I tried to leave as much of the stamped snow visible as possible. I added a second smaller stitched hill side to the bottom of each panel. For the two end panels, I added a steep hill.

While, I had the die cut machine and white card stock out, I also die cut some white snowflakes tags. These will end up being the home for my letters on the finished banner.

The penguins and all their accessories are from my box of pre-colored and cut images. Some of the images were water colored with Crayola Fine Line Markers; some were colored using markers; and some were water colored with Distress Inks. I used glue dots to adhere all of the images around the panels.

Lastly, I stamped the letters in WELCOME on the white snowflake tags in purple ink. I added a white twine bow to each tag and adhered it to a panel.

I love the way this banner turned out.

Stamps Used: Lawn Fawn’s Snow Cool, Toboggan Together, Here We Come A-Waddling, Frosties, Quinn’s Capital ABCs, and Dad + Me

Dies Used: Lawn Fawn’s Forest Border, Stitched Hillside Border, and Winter Ting Tags

Ink: Versa Fine

Lawn Fawn’s Sugar Plum and Yeti White Pigment Ink

Hope you enjoyed the banner!

Size:  Heart Shaped Panels about 6 by 6.25 inches

Extra Details:  I began this banner by die cutting all of the large hearts. I used two shades of pink card stock because I didn’t have enough of either shade to only use one. Then I die cut the house border from some red card stock. I used a stitched hill side die to create hills for each panel. I adhered the house and hills together. Then I used the large heart die to re-cut each house and hill section to make lining everything up easier. I added some clouds to the sky area with white pigment ink.

I stamp all of the images on some smooth white card stock. I colored everything with markers that my kiddos gave me for Christmas. I like the variety of colors but I am not very good shading with those markers yet. I fussy cut everything out leaving a small white border.

I used glue dots to adhere all of the images to the heart shaped panels. Then I remembered that I hadn’t included the letters for Welcome yet. So I die cut them from some red card stock and used liquid glue to adhere them to the panels.

Stamps Used: Lawn Fawn’s Plane and Simple, You’ve Got Mail, Home for the Holidays, Happy Trials, Love Letters, Bon Voyage, and How You Bean? Conversation Heart Add On

Size:  Horizontal top fold A2 card and tag

Extra Details:  I began both of these by stamping and coloring the images. I stamped four dogs in total. I wanted to cut them apart and layer them together to make the dogs more dimensional. I used colored pencils to color everything. I fussy cut everything out right on the black stamped lines. I used a black marker to paint the edges to hide any cutting mistakes.

I used the papers, stickers, and tags from Simon Says Stamp September 2017 card kit. I added a strip of patterned paper to a panel of pink card stock. I layered a blue glitter scalloped circle on top of that.   I added my focal circle next. I stamped the sentiment in a pink ink. Added a little bit of patterned paper to the bottom of the circle and adhered the dog. I adhered the focal circle to the glitter circle. To finish the card, I added a few enamel dots.

I used the shaker tag pieces from the card kit. I filled the shaker with some small pink plastic beads I had in my stash. I added some stamping and patterned paper to dress it up a bit. I adhered the dog and drew in a balloon string. Lastly, I added some blue and pink twine from my stash to finish the tag.

Otterly Happy Birthday

January 15, 2018

I like to try and stretch my stamps and use them for all year round. The otters from Lawn Fawn and Simon Says Stamp’s A Christmas Like No Otter are too cute to only use once a year. This is a birthday card I made using that stamp set.

Extra Details:  I began this card by stamping and coloring the images from the stamp sets. I used colored pencils. When I was finished, I fussy cut the images out leaving a small white border.

I stamped a strip of brown paper with a wood grain pattern using white pigment ink. I used a stitched border die to add interest to the edges of this panel. I added that to the center of a white card base.

Next, I created a focal panel for my cute otter to live on. I die cut a few different shades of blue paper. I used a stitched rectangle die and a scalloped border die. I layered the three layers together and added the sentiments. Then, I adhered the kelp images to the corners. I adhered the focal panel to the card. Lastly, I adhered the otter with a mini action wobble for added fun.
