Fourth of July Cards

June 27, 2016

Fourth of July is coming up fast. I also recently bought the Wish You Were Here stamp set. I wanted to make something patriotic with it. I ended up with four cards.

Size:  Vertical top fold A2 card

Extra Details:  I started by stamping and heat embossing the continental USA on water color paper. I used gold embossing powder on two of the images and silver embossing powder on the other two. Using my Distress Inks, I water colored the images in the style of the American Flag.  I do not own all of the Distress Ink colors, so I had to get creative on my red stripes. I mixed Fired Brick and Picked Raspberry in the hopes of getting a truer red. I think it worked out fairly well. I tried one with thinner red strips but didn’t like the way it looked. After the Distress Inks dried, I added white stars with a white pigment ink on the blue area. Then, I carefully fussy cut the images out.

Next, I prepped my card bases. After scoring and folding the card bases, I masked out some stripes. I started by stamping the word July in red ink in all the open areas. I then ink blended over the top of the words. It created some really cool texture.

After the card bases were dry, I started assembling my cards. I die cut two layers for each card; one from kraft card stock and one from navy blue card stock. I stamped and white embossed the sentiment on the blue layer. I wanted a little bit of texture on my kraft layer, but was having a hard time figuring out what I wanted. I, eventually, settled on using the vein stamps from Rooting for You as fireworks. I stamped them in metallic pigment inks. They are very subtle but in person they add that little something extra. I adhered the layers flat to the card. I did pop the USA map up on DIY foam Squares for a little dimension.

Ballerina Thank You Card Set Version 2

June 16, 2016

I loved the images in Penny Black’s Tutu Sweet stamp set. I already used one little girl on a different card set and wanted to use this little girl also. So I made a second card set using her.

The circle with the thanks is a left over from a previous project.

Extra Details:  I started by die cutting the frames for these cards. I used the inside pieces on the other ballerina thank you cards I made yesterday. I stamped the ballerina in VersaMark ink right on the black card base and added white embossing powder. After heat setting and letting that cool, I colored the heart on the leotard in with silver gel pen. I adhered the pink frame to the black card base. Lastly I added the die cut circle and trimmed the edge flush with the card base.

Ballerina Thank You Card Version 1

June 15, 2016, 2016

My daughter’s dance recital is coming up this weekend. I wanted to let her dance teachers and assistants know how much she enjoys dancing with them. I also made four of this design because while I had everything out.

The thanks die cut and circle are actually left-overs from another card set I made.

Tank You Card Set

May 21, 2016

I always need Thank You cards. So today, I created a quick set using Lawn Fawn’s Fintastic Friends. I made six cards total. The design is the same for each card, but three have the seaweed and three have the castle.

Watercolor Card Set

April 16, 2016

I just got a heat gun and embossing powder recently and couldn’t wait to play with them. I made this set of note cards as a donation for a local fundraising auction. I used some of Lawn Fawn’s backdrop stamps and white heat embossing powder to make a resist for my Distress Ink water coloring. Lastly I added flicks of the same inks all over the cards. All of the sentiments are mini stamps that I received when I ordered from Lawn Fawn.

Starry Thanks Card Set

April 3, 2016

My kiddos’ school was having a basket auction fund raiser. I donated a handmade card set, because what else would I donate? I had also just gotten a heat gun and embossing powder and was having way to much fun learning how to use it.

I water colored each background with Distress Inks. I wanted the cards to each be different, so I cut each water color piece in a slightly different way. After the backgrounds were completely dry and cut, I gold embossed some stars.  I also used a variety of sentiments to give each card a unique feel.

2016 Dance Thank You Card Set

March 30, 2016

I made a set of 40 Thank You cards for my daughter’s dance teacher as an end of the year gift. To save my sanity, I made each card exactly the same.

Bride’s Maid’s Thank You Cards

July 13, 2015

When I updated my blog in February 2016, I lost all the posting I had already done. I am doing my best to put the posts back up but I do not remember all the details for each card.  Unfortunately, the details for this project may be a bit scarce.

I was the maid of honor in a wedding over the weekend. The other bridesmaids were awesome and did a lot of the work. I wanted to thank them so I made a set of thank you cards. I only needed four cards, but made six just in case. I used a different sentiment on the extra cards.

Details

Size:  A2 card

Extra Details: I started by creating the white panels. I stamped the dresses and water colored them in colors to match the bride’s maids’ dresses. I also stamped the flowers on a separate piece of paper and water colored those in. I fussy cut out the flowers and adhered them to the dresses. Once they were dry, I stamped the sentiments. I adhered the water color panel to a slightly larger layer of patterned paper. I used white card bases for all the cards. I even added a small gemstone to the center of each flower.

I also stamped the dress in a purple ink on the inside of the card to dress it up.

Swim lessons are over for the summer. I made the swim instructors some cookies and these cute thank you cards.

Extra Details:  I started by water coloring an entire piece of water color paper. I layered blues, greens and purples until I got a background I liked. I cut the piece into smaller pieces. I ended up with seven panels and three strips. I needed eight cards, so I adhered the panels to a scrap piece of paper to make an eighth panel. I trimmed the top of the panels to look like waves. Then, the kiddos and I started stamping. We used dye inks to stamp everything. I adhered the panels to white card bases and was done.

Ink Pad Flower Card Set

May 9, 2015

When I updated my blog in February 2016, I lost all the posting I had already done. I am doing my best to put the posts back up but I do not remember all the details for each card.  Unfortunately, the details for this project may be a bit scarce.

After seeing the bridal shower invitations I made, a friend asked me to make a card set for her to donate to a local charity auction. At this time, I only owned a few supplies, so I got creative. In the end, I made 8 cards and a matching box to put them in.

Size:  Horizontal side fold A2 card

Extra Details:  I started by using my VersaMagic Chalk Dew Drop ink pads to create flowers. I then stamped a variety of Thank You sentiments on each panel. I added some interest with silver pigment ink and a small stamp from Lawn Fawn’s Penelope’s Blossoms stamp set. I trimmed the stamped panels down to a smaller size, layer a piece of patterned paper from my stash. Lastly I adhered them to the white card bases.

I found a tutorial to make a card box on line. I decorated the box the same way as the cards using the Dew Drop ink pads to create flowers. The only difference was that I used all the colors on the box instead of just one. I added a strip of white card stock with the various Thank Yous on it as well. I tied the box shut with some sheer white ribbon
