More Christmas tags today! This time I made a cute pillow box also, so that the tags can be given as a gift. The current Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge inspired this idea

Details

Extra Details: I started with half a sheet of water color paper and stamped the penguin images all over it. I added a few smaller images to fill in the black areas. I used water color pencils and a cheap water brush to add the color. I used mostly two shades of green, red, and black. I added some orange for the beaks and feet. I also used a very light blue and light pink for the snow cones, snow balls, and cheeks. Once the water color was dry, I die cut six tag shapes.

I cut the smaller tag from some light green card stock. I inked the edges with Mowed Lawn Distress Ink for interest. I embossed the sentiment with white embossing powder. I tied the two sizes of tags together with some silver raffia.

To make the pillow box, I used the We R Memory Keepers Pillow Box Board. I started with a strip of black card stock that measured 6” x 7.5” and created a pillow box. I die cut a stitched circle and decorated it with two penguins. I heat embossed the word “tags” in silver. I added a strip of green card stock and tied the box closed with some silver raffia. I adhered the stitched circle over the top of the green card stock and silver raffia to finish off the box.

Once I had finished my Deck the Halls patterned paper tags, I started looking through my stamps to see what other types of patterned paper I could create. I own a number of the baking related stamp sets, so I decided to make a set of cookie themed tags.

Details

Extra Details: I started with a half sheet of water color paper. Using the images from Sprinkled with Joy, Milk and Cookies, Oh Snap, and Smart Cookie, I created my own patterned paper. Once all of the images were stamped, I stamped the solid images in colored inks: such as the frosting on the cut out cookies, the chips in the middle of the chocolate chip cookies, sprinkles in the jar and the candy canes.

After the ink was dry, I used colored pencils to color the images in. I stuck with reds, greens and neutrals for the images. Once I finished coloring the images, I didn’t like the white background. I chose a teal color. (This color scheme reminds of Lawn Fawn’s new Perfectly Plaid Christmas papers.)

Then, I die cut the patterned paper into tags. I was able to get 6 tags from the half sheet of water color paper.

I didn’t want to cover up too much of my patterned paper, so I decided to add a Tiny Tag to hold the sentiment. I cut some Tiny Tags from red patterned paper and some from kraft card stock. I used the Tiny Tag Sayings stamp set for the sentiments. I used silver embossing powder on the red tags and gold embossing powder on the kraft tags.

After the embossing powder was cooled, I added some ink blending to the Tiny Tag die cuts. The red tags needed it to help dull the white in the patterned paper and help the sentiments stand out more. After I inked the red tags, the kraft tags looked really boring, so I added some ink to them also.

Lastly, I added some Red Sparkle Lawn Trimmings to the tags. The Tiny Tag die cuts are not glued to the big tags in any way, they are only held together by the twine.

I was looking through the Lawn Fawn blog one night (when I should have been sleeping) and saw some many beautiful “DIY patterned paper” using the Deck the Halls stamp set. I wanted to give it a try also. Here are my finished tags

Extra Details: I started with a half sheet of water color paper. Using the images from Deck the Halls stamp set, I created some patterned paper. I used two shades of green, a brown, and a red. I used second generation stamping with the darker green ink.

Once the ink was dry, I die cut the paper with the Tag You’re It die. I was able to get 6 tags from the half sheet.

I WON!!! I won a Simon Says Stamp Blog Candy Prize last month. The package arrived last week and today is the first day I was able to play with it. The prize included a stamp set from Hero Arts, a die from Penny Black, a pack of sequins and a beautiful handmade card. I was so excited and amazed that I had received so many awesome products.

Hero Arts’ Joy & Love has big beautiful sentiments. As soon as I saw them I knew I wanted to make some Christmas tags.

Extra Details: I started my stamping the tag in Simon Says Stamp Smoke ink on some white card stock. I them stamped the sentiments in Versa Mark ink and added either gold of silver embossing powder. After heat setting the sentiments, I fussy cut the tags out following the inside line of the stamped image.

I felt the tags needs just a little something to complete the design. I raided my stash of Christmas stamps and added some small images to each tag. I colored the images in using colored pencils. I picked colors that would match the colors in the patterned paper I used. My daughter helped color one of the images also.

Then, I die cut the same tag shape from some Lawn Fawn patterned paper. I adhered the inside of the tags to the patterned paper bases. I added natural twine to the tags and they were done.

The prize included a stamp set from Hero Arts, a die from Penny Black, a pack of sequins and a beautiful handmade card. I was so excited and amazed that I had received so many awesome products.

I made these tags with the die from Penny Black. I have been unable to find a name for the die, and I assume that it is a retired die and no longer available.

Details

Extra Details: I started by cutting the wreath die from water color paper four times. I also cut four tag shapes from water color paper.

Using Distress Inks, I started adding color to the die cut wreath. I started with the red ink on all four wreaths. I like the look of just the red on a white wreath so much, that I decided to leave one wreath that way. Next I added the green leaves to three of the wreaths. Then, I added brown to two of the wreath. I added some grey to the strings of the ornaments on the three wreaths that still had ornaments. Lastly, I added some gold metallic ink to all of the ornaments.

I added some ink blending to two of the tags to help the white wreathes stand out a little. I attached the wreaths to the tags using foam dots.

I wanted to add a sentiment to the tags as well. I used a small sentiment and some silver or gold embossing powder.

I really love the ways these tags turned out. They are very delicate, so I will have to be gentle with them.

Lot of fun new Christmas themed stamp sets means it time to make a lot of Christmas tags. I started by stamping, coloring, and fussy cutting lots and lots of images. After spending a few minutes admiring my work and all of the cute images, I began to wonder what I should do with all of them.  I made a few into quick and easy Christmas tags. I think these tags would be great on a plate of cookies or other homemade goodies.

Details

Extra Details:  First, I stamped, colored, and fussy cut out the images. I used Distress Inks as watercolors for all of the fussy cut images. I stamped the cookie sheet right in the red oven. For the blue oven, I stamped the cookie sheet separately and adhered it to the tag after fussy cutting it out.

I punched a hole in the top of each oven and added some twine to finish off each tag.

I am loving shaped tags this month. It is just a fun way to practice my coloring and scene creating without having to plan an entire card.

I made 12 snow globe shaped tags today. I just bought Lawn Fawn’s Ready Set Snow stamp set and the add on dies. Today, I just made regular tags; I hope to try some shaker tags soon.

Extra Details: I started by stamping a full sheet of card stock with the snow globes, 12 in total. Then I filled in my scenes. I used Post It note tape to do any masking that I needed to do.

After all the stamping was complete, I colored everything in with colored pencils. It was a lot of fun to try different ways to shade and color layer all these images.

When all the coloring was complete, I fussy cut each of the snow globes out. I lined the edges with a black marker to help hide any cutting imperfections.

Using the die cut, I cut twelve snow globes from glitter paper to layer behind my stamped images. I also added a small tag with a hole in between the layers. I used this tag to attach some red and white twine.

Stamps Used: Lawn Fawn’s Ready Set Snow, Beep Boop Birthday, Into the Woods, Milk and Cookies, Oh Snap, Stinkin’ Cute, Winter in the Park, and Year Two

I’m on a Christmas Tag kick all of a sudden. I love this gumball machine, but I haven’t really figured out what to do with it yet. I thought it would be fun to fill it with candies that have Christmas images on them. Be forewarned, there was a lot of masking involved. I ended up with 15 tags total.

All 15 tags together.

A close up of a tag

Details

Extra Details: I started by stamping the gumball machine as many times as I could on a full sheet of card stock. (15 times to be exact) Then using Post It tap, I stamped the little images on the gumballs. All 15 tags have the same images. I used colored ink when I had too.

Next was coloring, lots and lots of coloring.  I used colored pencils to color everything in. I mostly stuck to the traditional red and green colors. I added a little light blue just for interest. Then, I fussy cut each gumball machine out. Luckily, the shape was fairly simple so it didn’t take too long. I lined the edges with a black marker to help hide any cutting errors.

To make the gumball machines into tags, I added a glitter tag to the back of each. Some just got the top park of a tag and a few got a whole tag. I didn’t have enough glitter paper to give each gumball machine a whole tag. I was trying to use up some scraps.

I added some red and white twine to the top of the tags as a finishing touch.
